Cost Director

Job Description : Cost Director with a strong background in quantity surveying to take on a key leadership role. As the Senior Cost Director, you will play a crucial role in overseeing cost management, contract administration, and commercial aspects of our construction and development projects. **Position Overview:** In this senior leadership position, you will be tasked with directing and supervising all cost management activities across our construction projects. Your responsibilities will include leading quantity surveying teams, ensuring efficient cost control on large-scale projects, and overseeing both pre and post-contract cost management processes. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead and oversee quantity surveying teams on multiple major construction projects - Manage pre and post-contract cost activities, including tender documentation and contract administration - Direct cost planning, value engineering, and risk management strategies - Cultivate client relationships and manage stakeholder expectations - Offer expert advice on procurement strategies and contract selection - Conduct commercial negotiations with contractors and suppliers - Supervise the preparation of Bills of Quantities and cost plans - Monitor and report on project financial performance - Implement and uphold robust change control procedures - Direct dispute resolution and claims management processes **Required Qualifications:** - Over 20 years' progressive experience in quantity surveying and cost management - Demonstrated track record as a Cost Director in major construction projects - MRICS or FRICS qualification - Chartered Quantity Surveyor status - Extensive familiarity with major construction contracts (JCT, NEC, FIDIC) - Expertise in construction law and contract administration - Strong background in commercial management and final account settlements - Experience with construction projects valued at £50m+ - Proven success in project delivery and cost optimisation **Technical Skills:** - Proficiency in construction cost management software - Expertise in measurement and quantity surveying practices - Understanding of BIM and its relevance to quantity surveying - Advanced Excel and cost modeling capabilities
