General Manager Operations 

Job Description : GM OPERATIONS FOR PLASTIC EAST AFRICA GM Operations - Plastic Packaging Industry Purpose of Position : - Establishes and directs all operations and policies of the company and provides timely information to the Chief Executive Officer. - Ensures that the product is of the best quality and produced on time, at minimal cost and in accordance with agreed production schedules. - Ensures that policies and planning are adequate to achieve profitability and company's growth. - Ensures that the assets of the company are protected through the establishment of adequate financial controls and in line with the company policies and corporate governance. - Ensures the company adheres to it's Quality Policy "ISO" and others. Key Result Areas : - Inventory management. - Product quality and supply; availability of plant & vehicles. - Growth and customer satisfaction. - New products - new markets. Principal Duties : - Directs and controls all operations, and inventory control and provides necessary advice to the CEO. - Exercises direct control over supervisors and managers in relation to production volume, cost, and quality of production in meeting production schedules and delivery dates. - Provides leadership and guidance to subordinate managers and supervisors and ensures that the company's management and staff matters are handled effectively. - Ensures that liaison between Sales team/Production & Quality are optimized in the best interest of the company and entire satisfaction of the customer. - Ensures that customer required product development are met in the best professional method with optimal time, minimal investment and cost. - Ensures that customer complaints are dealt with a high level of competence and adequacy and customer satisfaction is of paramount importance. - Direct and control all production and maintenance activities including cost control and review regularly with the CEO. - Maintains compliance with the company policies, safety standards and housekeeping practices and confers with subordinate managers in the establishment of standards working schedules. - Oversees quality control checks to ensure that operations in process are in accordance with established standards including "ISO" and others. - Establishes the controls necessary for the achievement of production efficiency and/or optimizing yield and product quality. - Forecasts labour requirements and recommends equipment or layout changes, improvements in production methods or material handling procedures. - Participates in projects associated with site expansion, plant extension, and increased storage. - Direct stock takes/inventory and the reconciliation of raw materials and production, monthly, quarterly, yearly. - Participates in the Management Executive Committee and in meetings related to planning, production, marketing & sales, financial, quality safety and other operational matters. - Implement Audit programme as set by the CEO. - Monitors the use of and controls the development of company's information technology resources. - Supervises and conducts all major feasibility studies involving detailed financial analysis, costing and establishment of future returns on proposed expansions. Qualification And Experience : 1. BE with 15 Plus years of leadership experience with at least 7 years of experience in a Senior management role with Plastic Packaging Film Industry Preferable. Age <45. 2. Data collection and analysis skills. 3. Strong technical background and problem-solving skills. 4. ISO knowledge/understanding. 5. Strong verbal, listening and written communications skills. 6. Must be able to multitask effectively, handle demanding schedules and effectively deal with co-workers. 7. To treat people fairly, equally and with respect. 8. Keeps assigned work area clean, neat, organized, and free from safety hazards.
