Job Description : General Manager - Food Processing NORTH AMERICA For - Green Field Project & Brown Field Project . Open to International candidates with 25+ years experience Company – FONTERRA The company has been serving and supplying its quality food products to over 25 overseas countries since 1996. HACCP and ISO 22000:2005/BRC Food issue-9 certified and registered its with the US FDA. Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a General Manager (Food Processing Green Field Project). The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development of a new green field project. The role includes managing all aspects of plant operations, staff management, and ensuring the project meets quality, safety, and environmental standards. Qualifications Experience in food processing, manufacturing, or related industries Experience in plant operations management and project management Knowledge of quality, safety, and environmental standards Excellent leadership and people management skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Bachelor's or Master's degree in food science, engineering, or related fields Knowledge of local regulations and policies related to food processing and manufacturing is a plus Detailed Scope and Responsibilities Overall Plant Management: Full responsibility and accountability for the existing plant operations, including both greenfield (Hallo Food Pvt Ltd) and brownfield (Aditi Foods & Hallo Foods) projects. Collaborate with existing (AGM-Operation of Aditi Foods (I) P.L.) & (DGM-Operation of Aditi Foods (I) P.L. and other team members for reviewing and planning daily production, product improvement, process enhancement, and manpower management. Strategic Contributions: Lead and contribute with dedication and enthusiasm to the company's upcoming green field and brown field projects, as well as existing expansion plans. Drive initiatives for energy saving and conservation, steam Condensation Recovery, ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant), and HTP (Heat Treatment Plant) projects. Capacity Utilization and Networking: Optimize the capacity of existing production units by collaborating with reliable third-party private label customers, leveraging your professional network. Spearhead exiting product and process improvement by adopting state-of-the-art technology and transformative techniques. Team Leadership and Development: Build and lead a highly efficient team to align with and achieve the company’s management vision and goals. Responsibility for the team's performance, particularly in the first quarter post-recruitment, including growth, P&L, EBITA, and PAT. Financial Management and Operational Excellence: Oversee budgeting, costing, manpower optimization, and the implementation of automation strategies. Manage the company's day-to-day production, planning, and execution, ensuring effective collaboration with top-line and bottom-line teams, Collaborate with AGM-Operation of Aditi Foods (I) P.L.) & DGM-Operation of Aditi Foods (I) P.L. Seasonal and Procurement Management: Lead the yearly mango season's advance projection, planning, and execution, covering all aspects from production to procurement, labour, servicing, maintenance, and utility. Maintain continuous interaction with the procurement team, ensuring efficient resource management and optimization. Market Trend Analysis and Product Development: Advise company management on upcoming market trends and diversification strategies. Recommend discontinuing products with margins lower than 10% and focus on adding new, value-added products with higher margins. Innovate in areas like ready-to-eat (RTE), ready-to-cook (RTC), and frozen products, maximizing efforts for new product development, mayonnaise, Panco Breadcrumbs. Operational Leadership and Production Management: Plan and lead day-to-day production and quality activities, ensuring adherence to administration and documentation standards. Focus on minimizing production costs to align with the organization's benchmark pricing. Utilize manpower efficiently, increasing work efficiency and motivating staff to maximize production in minimum time. Quality Control and Compliance: Oversee quality inspection and checking of raw materials, packing materials, and finished goods, ensuring no compromise on company standards. Implement and maintain quality systems including ISO 22000:2005, HACCP, BRC, and adherence to GMPs and GHKs. Lead quality audits like FSMS/BRC and conduct Quality Improvement System (QIS) audits. Strategic Planning and Cost Management: Develop and schedule manufacturing procedures shift-wise. Actively involved in the finalization of conceptual layouts for processing lines and site layout. Manage costings of various products and ensure profitability. Supply Chain and Inventory Management: Maintain essential inventory levels using FIFO method and ensure efficient utilization. Handle raw materials procurement up to finished goods shipments. Vendor Management and Negotiations: Lead vendor selection and evaluation processes, implementing global quality guidelines. Communicate and negotiate with vendors in coordination with the purchase department. Brand Development and Sales Growth: Drive initiatives to increase domestic sales by at least 20%. Develop new recipes, products, and SKUs to enhance market share. Play a key role in setting up new lines for value-added food products. Safety, Hygiene, and Training: Ensure personnel hygiene on the shop floor and maintain plant hygiene. Train the workforce in GMPs and improve hygiene and sanitation practices. Maintenance and Loss Prevention: Manage pest control and fumigation activities. Implement effective maintenance plans to reduce breakdown hours. 1Consumer Response and Complaint Management: Effectively implement a Consumer Response System and handle consumer complaints. Aim to minimize customer complaints related to food safety by 25% annually. Process Control and Loss Management: Monitor process control parameters and product-wise Critical Control Points (CCPs) to avoid production losses. Take corrective actions to control online production losses by identifying threats and negligence.
