Job Description : LOGISTICS DIRECTOR UK Open to International candidates The Logistics Director plays a pivotal role in the streamlined operation of supply chain management in various industries, including manufacturing, retail, and service sectors. This senior position is critical for ensuring efficient and effective logistics operations, focusing on optimizing procedures and ensuring solutions are cost-effective. A Logistics Director manages overall supply chain management to maximize efficiency and minimize cost of the organization's product distribution. A Logistics Director is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and ongoing optimization of logistics and distribution processes. Primary responsibilities include: Developing strategic plans to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations. Ensuring that all logistics processes are aligned with the overall goals of the organization. Directing and overseeing logistics operations including warehousing, inventory, distribution, and transportation management. Collaborating with other department leaders to ensure logistics strategies are integrated with corporate objectives. Implementing new technologies and systems to streamline operations and increase efficiency. Managing budgeting, reporting, planning, and auditing. Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing transportation and distribution operations. Overseeing the recruitment, training, and performance evaluations of logistics personnel. Conducting performance metrics analysis and setting performance goals. Developing risk management programs to ensure continuity of supply in emergency scenarios. Key Tasks and Duties The day-to-day tasks of a Logistics Director are diverse and need strategic oversight: Review and prepare workflow, manpower, and space requirements forecasting. Analyze logistical problems and produce new solutions. Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle. Liaise with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, and consumers. Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs, and efficiency. Resolve any arising problems or complaints. Supervise, coach, and train the warehouse workforce. Meet cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness targets. Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements. Education and Certification Requirements A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is essential. A Master’s degree in a similar field is advantageous and often preferred. Professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) are highly desirable.
