Tax Accountant Head

Job Description : TAX ACCOUNTANT MALAYSIA FOR OIL AND GAS Company headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, has a strong portfolio of oil and gas assets in Malaysia as well as exploration interests in Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. The partnership has identified Malaysia as its hub to expand into Asia Pacific, and its combined strengths and expertise will pave the way for the joint venture to become a leading independent oil and gas company. Experience: Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Accounting and Tax. Working experience in the upstream oil and gas petroleum industry will be an added advantage. Reporting: This position reports to the Tax Lead. Responsibilities Support the Tax Lead in Petroleum Tax, Corporate Income Tax and Indirect Tax matters for the assigned countries in the Region. Tax Compliance Ensure external tax compliance for Petroleum Income Tax return and tax payment on timely basis. Coordinate with internal business partners in preparation of tax information required for petroleum tax computation and tax estimate. Liaise with partners and external consultants in preparation of petroleum tax computation and tax estimate. Review petroleum tax computation and tax estimate prepared by external consultants, responsible to finalize it for review by the Tax Lead. Manage and support the tax audit. Manage and support the Country-by-Country Reporting Requirements in the Region. Tax Planning Able to highlight and identify potential tax problem and improvement to business processes/procedures for discussion with the Tax Lead. Support the Tax Lead in advising business on tax matters. E.g. review tax clauses in agreement. Support the Tax Lead in Transfer Pricing. Tax Accounting Prepare monthly income and deferred tax accounting on timely basis and ensure no significant error for review. Prepare Tax GL account reconciliation for review. Prepare income and deferred tax calculation for the economics model, mid-term plan and budget. Tax Reporting Provide support in internal/external tax reporting and monitoring such as tax credit status, tax audit status, quarterly reporting etc. Leadership Participate actively in Company HSE programs and contribute freely to the achievement of the Company’s HSE policies and objectives. Through personal commitment and involvement, contribute to the safe and environmentally responsible operations of the Company’s day-to-day operations by complying with all policies and procedures and actively contributing to improvement through hazard and incident reporting and suggesting improvements. Support the Tax Lead in implementation of process change to drive continuous improvement. Undertake any ad-hoc assignments as and when required to provide the Management with timely financial report, analysis and information for decision making. ?Qualifications & Requirements Minimum of a professional accountancy qualification in Accounting and Finance. Knowledge of Malaysia Tax and Reporting requirements in particular: Petroleum Income Tax Act, Income Tax Act. Understanding of international tax principles. Knowledge of direct and indirect income and deferred Tax Accounting. Working experience with SAP will be an added advantage. Meticulous with the ability to analyze data and make recommendation for review. Ability to work on tight deadlines and/or under pressure. Flexible and adaptable to a changing environment. Good analytical skills, planning and organizing skills Good spoken and written English language skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Results oriented, with the ability to get the job done. Good skills in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Work, Excel, PowerPoint.
