General Manager 
18 yearsJob Description : GM ZAMBIA The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the full scope of our client's business operations in Zambia. This includes managing a large and diverse workforce (300+ permanent and fixed-term staff), ensuring strong client relationships, delivering against performance targets, and maintaining operational and financial excellence. The role will require a strong balance of commercial acumen, people leadership, and strategic client engagement. Responsibilities: 1. Strategic & Operational Leadership Lead the overall operations of the Zambian business, ensuring alignment with our client's Africa strategy. Oversee multiple FMCG client accounts, ensuring delivery of high-quality service and results. Maintain a deep understanding of client needs, adapting operations and solutions proactively. Ensure effective day-to-day management of service delivery, compliance, and governance. 2. Client & Stakeholder Management Serve as the primary point of contact for key client leadership teams. Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with clients, ensuring continuous alignment with their goals and KPIs. Present insights and data-driven business reviews to clients and stakeholders. 3. People Leadership Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence. Oversee recruitment, training, and development of field and support staff. Champion employee engagement and promote a positive workplace culture across all teams. Take full accountability for the P&L of the Zambian business. Drive financial planning, cost control, and profitability across all operations. Identify commercial opportunities and implement strategies to grow the business sustainably. 5. Market Insights & Innovation Leverage analytics to uncover actionable insights and enhance client competitiveness. Monitor the market environment (formal and informal trade), consumer trends, and competitor activities. Recommend and implement innovative solutions tailored to client and market needs. Skills: Strong client management and relationship-building skills Commercial and strategic mindset Strong people leadership and performance management skills Confident presenter with excellent communication skills Ability to navigate complex client and market environments Flexible, solutions-oriented, and resilient under pressure Highly analytical with a data-driven decision-making approach Strong operational management and financial acumen Qualifications: Proven leadership experience in a senior management role Minimum 18 years’ experience in the FMCG sector, at least 5 in countryt Experience managing large teams (300+), including fixed-term and permanent staff Experience working with or managing across informal and formal trade channels (advantageous) Demonstrated success in client-facing roles and operational delivery Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, or related field (MBA advantageous)
