Deputy General Manager
15 yearsJob Description : DEPUTY LEAD NIGERIA Deputy Lead Urea to oversee and manage the project and operational phases of Urea and Granulation plants. The ideal candidate will ensure timely completion of project activities, maintain effective plant operations, and implement best practices in safety, quality, and environmental compliance. Key Responsibilities: Project Phase: Monitor project progress to ensure timely completion of all Urea and Granulation related project activities, including engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning. Assist in the review of Technical & Engineering Specifications, Equipment Datasheets, PIDs, Equipment & Piping Layouts, Inspection & Test Plans, Piping Line lists, Isometrics, 3D models, control loop narratives, logic diagrams, loop & functional integrity, hook-ups, and electrical load lists for the detailed engineering phase of the project. Provide leadership and participate in safety studies such as PHA, Hazardous Area Classification studies, HAZOP & SIL Studies, QRA, Air Dispersions modeling, Flares radiation study, and Fire systems adequacy study, along with follow-up and closeout of study recommendations. Operations Phase: Ensure effective operation of the Urea and Granulation plants during normal operation, shut-downs, emergencies, and process parameter upsets to achieve planned production while maintaining targeted product quality with minimal downtime and full compliance with statutory regulations. Respond to directives in the operation of the plant and direct corrective actions to ensure normalization of plant operations. Coordinate day-to-day activities with other sections for prioritizing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities; support all preventive, predictive, corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting activities. Plan and execute shutdowns and plant turnarounds. Develop, review, and implement best operational management systems concerning Quality, Health, Safety, Environment, Social, and good engineering practices with continual improvements in coordination with the Plant Head. Maintain optimum inventory of catalysts, chemicals, PPEs, and consumables, and conduct inspections of the same. Prepare scope of works for service contracts, manage tendering, review contract bids, and oversee contract awarding and implementation. Develop and implement Management Information Systems. Oversee recruitment, training, and manpower development activities. Process Engineering: Possess in-depth knowledge of Urea and Granulation production processes and related chemical engineering principles. Understand the design, operation, and maintenance of Urea and Granulation production equipment. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in Urea and Granulation plants to minimize specific energy consumption. Safety and Environmental Compliance: Demonstrate good knowledge of industrial safety, environmental standards, and regulatory compliance. Implement and enforce safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and produce reports on findings Promote environmentally friendly and sustainable production practices. Quality Control: Exhibit proficiency in quality management systems and methodologies. Experience with process optimization and continual improvement techniques. Troubleshooting: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within the plant. Cost Optimization: Familiarity with costing and budget preparation. Qualifications BE/BTECH (Chemical) or Diploma (Chemical). 15-20 years of relevant experience (15+ years with BE/BTECH; 20+ years with Diploma). Experience in managing projects and processes in the commissioning and operation of Urea and Granulation plants. Strong people and project management skills. In-depth knowledge of Urea and Granulation production processes and related chemical engineering principles is an advantage. Skills: Adaptability and flexibility. Execution and implementation.
