Sales and Operations Manager

Job Description : Mount Meru is hiring for below position based out of Zambia - Sales & Operations Manager – Plastic Houseware Industry Location: Lusaka, Zambia A well-established group company in the plastic houseware manufacturing sector is seeking a proactive and experienced General Operations Manager to lead and coordinate both the sales and plant operations of a fast-growing, innovative manufacturer. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in driving business growth, operational excellence, and team performance across Zambia and the surrounding region. Key Responsibilities - Sales & Business Development - § Lead the sales team to meet and exceed KPIs. § Develop and execute national and regional sales strategies. § Identify and grow new markets across Zambia and surrounding regions. § Build strong client relationships with wholesalers, retailers, supermarkets, and informal market distributors. § Negotiate sales contracts and manage key accounts. § Monitor competitor activity and adapt strategies to maintain a competitive edge. Operations Management - § Coordinate production planning, inventory, warehousing, and logistics. § Align production output with market demand. § Work closely with plant and technical teams to optimize efficiency and reduce waste. § Ensure timely delivery, quality control, and optimal stock levels. Injection Moulding & Technical Oversight § Oversee or support injection moulding operations and staff. § Handle or supervise usage of plastic raw materials, moulds, and related machinery. § Ensure production equipment is operating efficiently and safely. § Experience with Haitian injection moulding machines is a strong advantage. § Leadership & Team Development § Lead and mentor both sales and operations staff. § Conduct training, coaching, and performance reviews. § Promote a results-driven, accountable, and customer-focused culture. Reporting & Planning § Prepare and present monthly reports on sales, operations, and production. § Use data to forecast demand and guide strategic planning. § Collaborate with finance and management on budgeting and resource planning. What We’re Looking For - Minimum 15 years in a combined sales and operations role in manufacturing or FMCG. - Hands-on experience with injection moulding processes. - Familiarity with plastic raw materials, moulds, and plant machinery. - Experience with Haitian machines is a major plus. - Experience with ERP or inventory systems. - Strong communication, leadership, and negotiation skills. - Education - Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Polymer/Plastics Engineering, or related field is preferred but not required. - Technical training or qualifications in injection moulding
