Job Description : GM UNDERGROUND CAOL MINE SOUTH AFRICA Develop, evaluate and monitor mining strategy to ensure the attainment of business objectives. Contribute to business planning to improve competitiveness, profitability and growth. Collaborate with mine management and corporate executives to achieve overall business objectives. Identify potential business risks and establish processes to manage risks appropriately. Procure external assistance and expert advice to provide assurance for design specifications according to best practice in line with Group strategy. Develop and review plans and systems to achieve and improve mining KPIs. Facilitate and evaluate the compilation of innovative proposals to ensure continuous improvement. Manage relations with trade unions and the community. 2.Health and Safety Maintain the electrical, mechanical maintenance of the sub-station. Enforce legal and environmental and health and safety compliance in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act Make recommendations to the employer regarding matters of health and safety of employees in the workplace. Contribute to the compilation of risk logs. Enforce health and safety training for all mining personnel in accordance with Mine Health and Safety act. 3.Mining Operations Management Manage and monitor the attainment of mining operations business targets. Lead the mine operations management team in the management of mining personnel and resources. Determine, implement and monitor production strategies; activities; plans; reports and schedules. Regulate the allocation of resources and equipment to optimize the efficiency of mining operations. Implement operational plans for the mine. Monitor and report the progress of mining operations in accordance to the operational plans. Oversee new projects, such as installing new mining equipment or opening a new shaft. Provide technical input for the mining operations to minimize possible risks. Evaluate appropriateness of changes in operations to statutory requirements and recommend changes to policy and legal requirements to enhance productivity. Oversee the recruitment and development of superintendents, supervisors, and operators, providing support, encouragement, advice and guidance to build an effective workforce. 4.Financial Management Budgeting Propose capital expenditure projects to expand capacity or improve operations. Prepare production and operating budgets, and monitor and report performance and costs. Allocate and monitor the utilization of financial resources according to mining objectives. Control expenditure according to budget. Monitor effective cash flow management.
