Job Description : WORK SHOP MANAGER SAO TOME t is an established agricultural company operating a large-scale organic plantation on the island of Sao Tome. The industrial complex includes a processing mill, a fully equipped mechanical workshop and supporting infrastructure. As the site is not yet connected to the national electricity grid, operations currently run on generators. All machinery and equipment are standard models, ensuring easier access to spare parts. Due to the remote island setting, careful planning for procurement and logistics is essential. The Workshop Manager will oversee the technical operations of the workshop, lead a local team, and receive support from technical experts based in another country. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee all technical operations of the workshop Supervise and manage local workshop staff Monitor, manage, and optimise stocks and spare parts Control costs and track budgets Prepare regular reports and handle administrative duties Deliver technical training to staff to improve skills and efficiency Profile Requirements Degree in automotive engineering or related field, or equivalent professional experience Proven hands-on experience repairing light vehicles (LV) and trucks, agricultural tractors and yellow (heavy) equipment and generator sets (gensets) Proficiency with digital tools for diagnostics, repairs, parts ordering, stock control, and reporting Previous agricultural machinery experience strongly preferred Fluency in French is mandatory, English and Portuguese beneficial A practical leader who thrives in remote and rural environments Skills & Personal Attributes Technically competent, dynamic, efficient, and results-driven Approachable leader with strong people management skills, even in challenging situations Team-oriented, able to operate effectively within a hierarchical organisation Practical and hands-on — enjoys being in the workshop more than behind a desk Flexible and multi-skilled across mechanics, electrics, and related technical areas Comfortable living and working in rural or remote settings Organised, proactive, and capable of long-term planning for remote operations Friendly and sociable personality, with the ability to integrate well into the community both during and after working hours International candidates are invited to apply for this position
