Job Description : CEO EAST AFRICA a market leader in marine and engineering services in East Africa, delivering complex infrastructure, construction, and technical solutions to clients in the region and beyond. They work across diverse sectors, including maritime, oil & gas, and civil engineering, combining technical expertise with high-quality project execution. They are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking CEO to lead the business into its next phase of growth. This is a hands-on, high-impact leadership role that requires balancing strategic vision with operational excellence. The CEO will guide a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary team, ensure sustainable growth, and uphold the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. The Opportunity: The successful candidate will: Shape and deliver the company’s strategic direction. Drive performance across technical, operational, financial, and commercial functions. Build strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders. Inspire and develop teams to achieve ambitious goals. Key Responsibilities: 1. Leadership & Management Lead day-to-day operations across all departments: technical, fabrication, projects, asset management, supply chain, procurement, QHSES, commercial & marketing, finance, and HR. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed quality and safety standards. Allocate and optimize resources to meet operational and strategic objectives. 2. Business Development & Growth Identify and pursue new opportunities locally and internationally. Maintain a healthy project pipeline and maximize the use of company assets. Build partnerships with industry players and potential clients. Oversee marketing activities across print, digital, and social channels. 3. Customer Excellence Develop and maintain strong senior-level relationships with key customers. Ensure all project requirements and timelines are met or exceeded. Collaborate with affiliate companies to achieve group-wide objectives. 4. Technical, Production & Project Oversight Streamline operations for greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Maintain assets and equipment in optimal working order. Monitor project performance, manage risks, and ensure compliance with QAQC standards. Oversee procurement planning and cost control. Adapt plans and designs to meet real-world conditions in consultation with stakeholders. 5. People Leadership Recruit, develop, and retain top talent. Build local expertise in shipbuilding, operations, and technical disciplines. Ensure compliance with certification, training, and professional standards. Promote a culture of respect, teamwork, and continuous learning. Address challenges constructively and keep teams motivated. 6. Compliance & Governance Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, insurance, and QHSES requirements. Maintain high ethical and professional standards in all activities. 7. Financial Stewardship Deliver on financial targets for sales, profitability, and cash flow. Monitor and manage budgets, P&L, and revenue streams. Drive improvements in key performance metrics (sales, GP, PBT, EBITDA). Oversee cost control, cash flow, and resource allocation. Skills & Attributes: Proven leadership in complex, multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural environments. Strategic mindset with strong operational and financial acumen. Resilient and adaptable under pressure, with excellent decision-making skills. Strong communicator and relationship-builder. Proactive, hands-on, and solutions-oriented. Qualifications & Experience: Degree in Engineering (required); MBA or management/finance diploma is an advantage. 6–8 years in senior/executive management in marine & shiphuilding services, civil/offshore engineering or fabrication services, preferably within an ISO 9001/14001 environment.
