10 yearsJob Description : AVP FC TORONTO CANADA Open to International candidates An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Vice President Financial Controller to join a leading global financial institution in Toronto. You will play a pivotal part in managing and working hands on across local finance, regulatory reporting, tax, and treasury functions. What you'll do: Oversee the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and IIROC/CIRO rules, ensuring accuracy and compliance at all times. Manage both internal and external audit processes by preparing comprehensive working papers, schedules, analyses, and other required documentation for auditors and regulators. Collaborate with external consultants to prepare direct and indirect tax provisions for Canadian operations. Support all aspects of corporate finance, treasury, and tax matters within Canada by liaising effectively with internal teams such as Controllers Group, Treasury, Tax, FP&A, among others. Ensure timely delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements by coordinating efforts across various departments. Make recommendations to finance leadership regarding improvements in operational effectiveness related to financial reporting changes, taxation matters, and design and maintain robust internal controls. Foster strong interdepartmental relationships to facilitate smooth information flow and effective problem-solving across teams. What you bring: 10+ years of experience in accounting and/or finance roles within an investment bank, broker dealer, capital markets/financial services environment, OR auditing/control environments with a financial services portfolio is a must. CPA qualifications and a university degree in business/accounting or a related field. Strong knowledge of broker dealer regulations (e.g., CIRO), banking oversight (e.g., OSFI), tax frameworks (e.g., CRA), and related compliance requirements. Show familiarity with risk management practices applicable to both financial and non-financial risks within financial institutions.
