Deputy Business Head

Job Description : DEPUTY BUSINESS HEAD MINING NIGERIA We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Deputy Business Head Mining to lead and grow our mining operations with a focus on Gold, Base Metals, Critical & Energy Metals. The ideal candidate should have a minimum 25+ years of experience in mining industry and at least 8-10 years of hands-on experience in Africa, managing large-scale, multi-commodity mining operations. This leadership role requires strong strategic insight, project execution capabilities, and the ability to lead multicultural teams. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership Develop and execute mining strategies aligned with corporate growth plans for diverse mineral portfolios. Lead greenfield and brownfield exploration, development, and operational scaling. Evaluate and recommend acquisitions or partnerships to expand resource base and geographic footprint. Operational Oversight Oversee all phases of mining operations – exploration, feasibility, development, production, and rehabilitation. Drive cost-efficient operations with a strong focus on productivity, recovery, and resource optimization. Implement advanced mining technologies and automation for performance improvement. Africa-Focused Leadership Leverage deep understanding of the African mining landscape, including geological, regulatory, socio-political, and environmental factors. Establish and maintain strong relationships with government authorities, local communities, and regional partners. Ensure compliance with African mining codes, environmental policies, and social license requirements. Financial Management Drive profitability and ROI of the mining portfolio. Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, CAPEX and OPEX plans; monitor financial KPIs. Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks. Qualifications & Experience: Education: B.E in Mining/Mineral Engineering or M.Sc/M.Tech (Applied Geology) from a reputed university or institution Experience: Minimum 25+ years of experience in the mining sector with multicommodity exposure – Gold and Copper At least 10 years of leadership experience in Africa in exploration, mine development, and production. Track record of managing multi-site or multi-country operations and delivering high-value mining projects.
