What you'll do: As Director of Operations and Industrial Performance based in Batam, you will play an instrumental role in shaping the future of manufacturing excellence for a major player in the oil and gas supply chain. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve overseeing complex production lines—ensuring they operate at peak efficiency—and driving forward automation initiatives that reduce downtime while boosting output quality. You will take charge of all supply chain functions from procurement through distribution, optimising each step for maximum responsiveness in both domestic and international markets. By governing rigorous quality assurance frameworks aligned with global standards such as API and ISO certifications, you will instil a culture of zero defects throughout the organisation. Your commitment to continuous improvement will see you championing lean methodologies like Six Sigma while leveraging digital tools to enhance transparency across departments. In addition to these core duties, you will ensure unwavering compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards—fostering a workplace where every individual feels supported in their pursuit of operational excellence. Through strategic planning initiatives that align with broader corporate objectives, you will help secure long-term success for both your team members and the wider business. Oversee all aspects of tubular goods production lines including end-finishing and premium threading processes to ensure high-volume output meets stringent global standards for oil and gas clients while minimising downtime and waste. Implement predictive maintenance strategies and automation technologies to enhance equipment reliability, throughput, and overall operational efficiency across multiple facilities. Lead procurement activities as well as inbound logistics, inventory control, warehousing, and outbound distribution to optimise supply chain responsiveness and cost-efficiency both domestically and internationally. Collaborate closely with global partners and port authorities to guarantee seamless export operations while maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders throughout the value chain. Govern comprehensive quality assurance systems at every operational stage by ensuring full compliance with API, ISO, and other relevant industry standards; lead internal/external audits and certification renewals. Drive a zero-defect culture by conducting root cause analyses, implementing corrective actions (CAPA), and delivering targeted quality training programmes for all staff members. Champion lean manufacturing principles such as Six Sigma alongside digital transformation initiatives to foster continuous improvement in productivity, transparency, and accountability. Develop robust cross-functional KPIs to monitor performance benchmarks; lead best practice sharing sessions across affiliated entities to promote operational excellence. Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations by promoting proactive safety cultures through regular training sessions, audits, incident prevention programmes, and achieving zero lost time injuries (LTI). Translate corporate strategy into actionable operational roadmaps by leading annual budgeting cycles, CAPEX planning efforts, cost optimisation projects; present performance updates to the Board of Directors. What you bring: To excel as Director of Operations and Industrial Performance you will bring extensive experience from senior roles within complex manufacturing settings—particularly those linked to oil & gas or tubular goods industries. Your background should reflect not only technical acumen but also an ability to inspire teams towards shared goals through effective mentoring programmes. You are adept at navigating cross-border supply chains while maintaining rigorous attention to detail when it comes to regulatory compliance or audit preparation. Your interpersonal skills enable you to build trust among diverse stakeholders—from shop floor operators right up to boardroom executives—while your command of digital tools ensures data-driven decisions underpin every aspect of your work. A passion for continuous improvement combined with sensitivity towards health & safety issues means you naturally foster environments where everyone feels empowered yet protected. Above all else your collaborative approach helps unite commercial finance HR colleagues around common objectives so that together lasting value can be created. Hold at least a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical preferred), with advanced degrees such as a master’s being highly desirable for this senior leadership position. Demonstrate more than ten years’ experience in senior operational roles within manufacturing environments—ideally those serving oil & gas or tubular goods sectors—with proven results in large-scale transformation projects. Showcase expertise managing cross-border supply chains involving procurement logistics as well as inventory management for both domestic consumption and international export markets. Possess deep familiarity with ERP systems (preferably SAP), KPI dashboards, digital process tools; able to leverage technology for enhanced decision-making accuracy. Exhibit fluency in English as well as Bahasa Indonesia; proficiency in French would be advantageous given integration requirements with global partners. Display excellent stakeholder management skills coupled with polished executive communication abilities suitable for board-level presentations. Have hands-on experience leading successful internal/external audits against API/ISO standards while driving certification renewals without major non-conformities. Bring a track record of implementing lean manufacturing principles such as Six Sigma along with digital transformation projects that have delivered measurable improvements in productivity or cost reduction. Demonstrate commitment to health & safety excellence by achieving zero LTI records through proactive training programmes/audits within previous roles. Show evidence of building high-performing teams via mentoring/succession planning initiatives that strengthen technical bench strength across multiple departments.
