What you'll do: As General Manager Corporate Planning and Strategy in Kuala Lumpur, you will play an instrumental role in steering the organisation’s future by developing comprehensive strategies that drive sustainable growth across all subsidiaries. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close collaboration with executive teams to ensure seamless alignment between corporate vision and operational execution. You will be responsible for conducting deep market analyses to anticipate industry shifts while identifying new avenues for expansion through partnerships or acquisitions. By integrating financial insights into your strategic recommendations and overseeing rigorous performance monitoring systems, you will ensure that every initiative delivers measurable value. Your ability to foster innovation and nurture collaborative relationships will be key in embedding a culture of continuous improvement throughout the group. Lead the formulation of the organisation’s corporate strategic planning process by setting long-term goals, establishing enterprise-wide objectives, and ensuring these are translated into actionable plans at all levels. Collaborate with senior leadership teams across subsidiaries to align business strategies with the overarching corporate vision, values, and shareholder mandates. Conduct comprehensive market research and industry analysis to identify emerging opportunities, disruptive trends, and potential threats impacting core businesses. Analyse competitor activities, macroeconomic conditions, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to provide timely strategic recommendations. Develop internal capabilities for forecasting, benchmarking, scenario planning, and support informed decision-making throughout the organisation. Identify and evaluate potential partnerships, alliances, mergers, acquisitions or divestments that align with long-term growth objectives; lead deal evaluation processes including due diligence and post-merger integration planning. Work closely with Finance to analyse business performance data, develop financial forecasts, assess feasibility of proposed initiatives, and present strategy-linked business models to senior leadership. Establish robust systems for tracking implementation status of strategic initiatives across all subsidiaries; monitor progress and recommend corrective actions where necessary. Collaborate with Risk Management and Compliance units to identify risks associated with new ventures or external threats; develop mitigation frameworks to safeguard strategic interests. Champion a culture of innovation by promoting forward-thinking approaches to business challenges and encouraging cross-functional collaboration for continuous improvement. A minimum of 10–15 years’ progressive experience in transformation programmes, strategic planning or programme management within a group or multi-subsidiary environment is essential. Demonstrated ability to lead complex corporate strategy formulation processes involving multiple stakeholders at various organisational levels. Proven track record in conducting detailed market research and industry analysis to inform high-impact business decisions. Experience managing full lifecycle of mergers & acquisitions including due diligence processes, synergy analysis and post-merger integration planning is highly desirable. Strong financial acumen with experience analysing business performance data, developing forecasts and assessing feasibility of large-scale investments. Excellent communication skills enabling effective presentation of strategy-linked business models to senior leadership teams or board committees. Expertise in establishing monitoring systems for tracking implementation status of strategic initiatives across diverse business units is advantageous. Familiarity with risk management frameworks relevant to corporate strategy execution within regulated environments is preferred.
