What you'll do: As Director of Port and Logistics Operations, you will be entrusted with steering both strategic direction and daily execution across multiple business units. Your role will involve close collaboration with senior leadership to set ambitious goals for growth while ensuring every aspect of port operations runs smoothly. You will represent the organisation externally—building trusted relationships with government bodies, industry groups, customers, and community stakeholders—while internally championing best practices in quality assurance, safety protocols, compliance frameworks, and cultural integration. Oversee all aspects of port operations as well as logistics subsidiaries to ensure seamless day-to-day functioning in line with agreed business objectives. Act as a key representative for the organisation when engaging with government institutions such as Batam Authority and Customs, as well as industry-related associations. Drive the implementation of QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety & Environment) procedures to enhance operational quality while maintaining high standards of workplace safety and environmental stewardship. Support commercial teams by nurturing customer relationships and facilitating effective communication between internal departments and external clients. Ensure robust governance by monitoring compliance with international accounting systems (IFRS/PSAK), corporate policies, budgets, manpower planning, and standard operating procedures. Lead initiatives aimed at continuous improvement of employee engagement, deploying culture change programmes that prioritise quality service delivery and customer centricity. Finalise integration processes within the broader group structure to foster strong teamwork, open communication channels, and coordinated efforts across all business units. Anticipate market changes by refining strategies as needed; build actionable plans that safeguard ongoing business interests through proactive stakeholder engagement. Manage corporate issues efficiently while supporting people development initiatives that contribute to long-term organisational success. What you bring: To excel as Director of Port and Logistics Operations you will bring a wealth of experience from senior leadership positions within the maritime or logistics sectors. Your background should demonstrate not only technical proficiency in managing large-scale port activities but also a deep appreciation for regulatory compliance frameworks specific to Indonesia. You will have honed your interpersonal skills through years of stakeholder engagement—whether liaising with government agencies or cultivating lasting partnerships with commercial clients. Fluency in both Indonesian Bahasa and English enables you to navigate multicultural environments effectively. Your commitment to upholding high standards in quality assurance, safety management systems (QHSE), financial oversight, team development initiatives—and your ability to adapt quickly amid changing market conditions—will set you apart. Above all else your approachable style fosters trust among colleagues while your dedication ensures collective success. A university degree (Bachelor level or higher) is required along with at least five years’ experience in senior management roles such as Board Member or Port Administrator. A minimum of ten years’ proven track record managing complex port operations as well as logistics functions within large-scale organisations. Comprehensive understanding of the port and logistics industry landscape in Indonesia including regulatory requirements governing transportation networks and customs procedures. Demonstrated financial acumen combined with hands-on operational expertise; able to oversee budgets while optimising resource allocation for maximum efficiency. Extensive network of contacts within Indonesian ports/transportation sectors/government officials which can be leveraged for business advantage. Proficiency in both Indonesian Bahasa and English languages is essential for effective communication across diverse stakeholder groups. Experience implementing QHSE procedures aimed at improving quality standards while safeguarding health & safety outcomes for all staff members. Ability to inspire trust through humility; results-oriented approach underpinned by solid integrity; adept at building cohesive teams focused on shared objectives. Track record of successfully managing corporate governance issues including compliance with international accounting standards such as IFRS/PSAK. Willingness to travel frequently within Indonesia (especially Jakarta) as well as internationally (notably Singapore/Southeast Asia region) as required by business needs.
