Job Description : Mine Manager – Bauxite Mining Operations (Guinea) Location- Guinea Key Responsibilities Overall Operational Leadership Oversee daily surface mining operations, including extraction, haulage, and site logistics. Plan, implement, and monitor mine schedules and production targets. Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Compliance Lead and enforce safety standards, ensuring a zero?harm operational environment. Manage environmental stewardship, including waste, dust, and noise control. Ensure strict compliance with Guinean mining laws, environmental regulations, and surface mining protocols. Strategic Planning & Cost Control Develop short- and long-term mine plans, resource projections, and capital expenditure (CAPEX) programs. Optimize operational costs through efficient resource allocation and logistics planning. Team Leadership & Workforce Development Lead, train, and manage multidisciplinary teams (operators, engineers, supervisors, maintenance, etc.). Build a positive safety-driven culture and provide regular performance feedback. Stakeholder & Community Engagement Act as point of contact for government regulators, local communities, and contractors. Foster positive relationships and handle stakeholder concerns with diplomacy and transparency Equipment & Maintenance Management Oversee preventative maintenance and ensure availability of critical equipment. Coordinate technical support, spare parts, and downtime minimization, especially for surface mining machinery Global Mining Review Wirtgen Group . Reporting, Documentation & Quality Control Prepare regular operational reports—daily, weekly, monthly—highlighting production, safety, and cost metrics. Maintain rigorous documentation of regulatory compliance, maintenance logs, and incident records. Qualifications & Experience Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Experience: Minimum 18–20 years in mining operations; 5+ years in a management role. Proven track record in bauxite surface mining operations, preferably in Guinea or West Africa. Familiarity with surface mining technologies—especially surface miner equipment. Technical Skills: Proficiency in mine planning software (Surpac, Minesight, Datamine) and ERP tools. Knowledge of safety management systems and mining regulatory frameworks. Certifications: Mines Manager Certificate or equivalent national/international qualification (where applicable).
