20 yearsJob Description : GM PLASTIC SIERRA LEONE General Manager (GM) Plastic Manufacturing Industry Key Responsibilities Technical Responsibilities 1. Prduction & Proocess Management Oversee daily operations of blow molding machines and injection molding machines. Ensure optimal machine utilization, cycle time reduction, and production efficiencies. Monitor parameters for blow molding (extruder temp, parison control, trimming) and injection molding (clamping, injection pressure, barrel temps). Troubleshoot machine issues, mold defects, leakage faults, part weight variation, shrinkage, flash, etc. Ensure adherence to SOPs, preventive maintenance schedules, and quality standards. 2. Mold & Tooling Management Coordinate mold trials, mold maintenance, development of new molds for mugs, baskets, buckets. Evaluate mold designs, material flow, cavity balancing, cooling system efficiency. Ensure timely repair, cleaning, and alignment of molds. 3. Raw Material & Quality Control Oversee usage of PP, HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE and additives (masterbatches, fillers). Ensure incoming material inspection, batch traceability, and quality parameters. Implement quality systems: visual inspection, drop test, leak test, weight tolerance, dimensional accuracy. Drive continuous improvement (Kaizen, 5S, Lean, Six Sigma). 4. Plant Maintenance & Safety Ensure zero downtime through preventive and predictive maintenance. Oversee electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance teams. Ensure compliance with safety standards, fire safety, and plant housekeeping. B. Commercial Responsibilities 1. Business Strategy & P&L Management Lead budgeting, forecasting, cost planning, and financial performance. Drive annual business planproduction targets, revenue, margins. Analyze profitability by product (mugs, baskets, buckets, blow-molded items). 2. Sales & Marketing Coordination Work with sales team to plan monthly and annual sales demand. Approve pricing strategies, quotations, and negotiate with major buyers. Identify new business opportunities, OEM clients, distributors, and export leads. 3. Costing & Procurement Approve product costing considering material consumption, cycle time, overheads. Manage vendor development for raw materials, packaging, logistics, and molds. Negotiate with suppliers for competitive pricing and payment terms. 4. Inventory & Supply Chain Management Maintain optimal inventory of raw materials, finished goods, and spare parts. Ensure timely dispatch, logistics planning, and stock movement. Implement ERP/MRP systems for production and inventory accuracy. Qualifications B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Plastics / Polymer Engineering (preferred) MBA in Operations/Marketing (added advantage) Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience in the plastic manufacturing sector Email Id:
