VP – API Process R&D

Job Description : VP – API Process R&D (Cost Improvement) IRELAND Open to International candidates leading API manufacturing company for Vice President – API Process R&D with strong expertise in cost optimization and process excellence. This is a strategic leadership role focused on driving cost competitiveness, yield enhancement, and scalable process innovation across commercial and developmental APIs. Role Summary The incumbent will lead end-to-end API Process R&D initiatives with a sharp focus on cost reduction (COGS optimization), value engineering, alternate route development, and successful scale-up for commercial manufacturing. Key Responsibilities Lead API Process R&D programs focused on yield improvement and cost optimization Develop alternate synthetic routes and identify cost-effective raw materials Drive process scale-up, technology transfer, and commercialization Support regulatory submissions including DMF, ANDA, and CEP filings Lead cross-functional cost reduction and operational excellence initiatives Build, mentor, and strengthen high-performing R&D teams Ensure adherence to cGMP standards and global regulatory requirements Interface with USFDA and EU regulatory authorities as required Desired Profile PhD in Organic Chemistry (Mandatory) 20+ years of experience in API Process R&D Strong expertise in route scouting, cost optimization, and scale-up chemistry Proven leadership experience at Sr. Director / AVP / VP level Hands-on exposure to USFDA and EU regulatory interactions
