Job Description : Unit Head-Steel Reporting to - CEO Location- Lagos, Nigeria Qualification M.E/M.Tech/B.E/B.Tech with MBA Experience : · 20-25 years of experience in Steel industry and a minimum of 5 years at a senior leadership position in the Operations of the Steel Plant. · At least 15 years of demonstrated strategic leadership experience with an in-depth understanding of various steel-making technologies. · The incumbent will oversee the day-to-day operations of the steel Unit, having Induction furnaces and rolling facilities, ensuring efficient execution of operational strategies that drive business performance and value for stakeholders. · The primary responsibilities will focus on optimizing operational processes, reducing costs, and improving supply chain efficiency to meet or exceed customer expectations. · A key aspect of the role will be to enhance operational workflows through lean practices and continuous improvement initiatives, driving higher productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness across all operations. · The Unit Head will be responsible for building and maintaining a performance-driven work culture that engages employees, encourages collaboration, and fosters a strong commitment to integrity and teamwork. · Technical excellence and the ability to manage complex operational challenges will be crucial to the success of this role. · Drive the organizations mid-term and long- term operational strategies, focused on optimizing business processes and ensuring year-over-year operational efficiency. This includes enhancing manufacturing and supply chain practices, resulting in cost reduction, better resource utilization, and improved operational performance. The UH will also be responsible for identifying opportunities for expanding operational capabilities. · Achieve cost reduction across various operational areas, including minimizing fallouts during the manufacturing process, optimizing material costs, reducing inventory levels, cutting down on conversion costs, increasing yields, and lowering rejection rates. Focus on improving operational efficiency, ensuring high-quality production, and meeting customer demand while controlling expenses. · Drive operational excellence by implementing and governing best practices, policies, and procedures across all areas of operations. This includes ensuring that all processes are standardized, efficient, and consistently meet or exceed customer expectations. The UH will oversee the execution of operational strategies, ensuring alignment with the organizations goals and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational productivity and reduce waste. · Ensure the development and implementation of safety protocols and initiatives to reduce workplace injuries, enhance talent attraction, and lower employee turnover. This will contribute to creating a safer, more productive work environment. By fostering a culture of safety and employee engagement, the UH will help increase the organizations ability to attract skilled individuals, improve employee retention, and drive overall performance.
