Job Description : GM (Project) - Integrated Steel Plant Location: Africa Experience: 20+ Years Qualification: BE/ B. Tech (Mechanical / Metallurgy / Industrial Production) JOB PURPOSE: The incumbent will be responsible to lead and manage the planning, execution, and commissioning of capital projects for the integrated steel plant including expansion, modernization, and greenfield/brownfield projects. The role is responsible for ensuring projects are completed within schedule, budget, and quality standards while complying with statutory, safety, and environmental regulations. Role & responsibilities: 1. Project Planning & Execution · Lead end-to-end execution of capital projects across various units of the integrated steel plant such as Raw Material Handling System, Coke Oven, Sinter Plant, Blast Furnace, Steel Melting Shop, Rolling Mills, Power Plant and Utilities. · Prepare project feasibility studies, project reports, and detailed project execution plans. · Define project scope, timelines, budgets, and milestones. · Ensure timely project commissioning and stabilization. 2. Capex Management · Prepare and manage annual Capex budgets for plant expansion and modernization projects. · Monitor project costs and ensure adherence to approved budgets. · Conduct cost optimization and value engineering to improve project efficiency. 3. Engineering & Technical Coordination · Coordinate with internal technical teams, consultants, and OEMs for engineering design and equipment selection. · Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and process requirements. · Ensure integration of all plant facilities and utilities. 4. Contract & Vendor Management · Lead techno-commercial evaluation of vendors and contractors. · Finalize contracts and ensure adherence to project specifications and timelines. · Monitor contractor performance and ensure quality standards. 5. Project Monitoring & Control · Track project progress against timelines using project management tools. · Identify risks, bottlenecks, and delays and implement mitigation strategies. · Provide regular progress reports to senior management. 6. Statutory Compliance & Safety · Ensure compliance with statutory approvals, environmental norms, and safety standards. · Coordinate with regulatory authorities for approvals and inspections. · Ensure strict adherence to project safety protocols. 7. Cross-functional Coordination · Collaborate with operations, procurement, finance, maintenance, and commercial teams for seamless project implementation. · Ensure proper handover of commissioned facilities to operations teams. 8. Team Leadership · Lead and mentor project engineers, site supervisors, and project management teams. · Develop strong project governance and accountability systems.
