Job Description : SUGAR PROJECT MANAGER UGANDA setting up a Greenfield Sugar Factory in Amuru District, Uganda. In preparation for this new project, the Group seeks to recruit PROJECT MANAGER: Reporting to the Senior Manager - Projects / Director Projects, the incumbent will be responsible for: Identification of opportunities for expansion, diversification, acquisitions, and divestments across the Group's sugar businesses. • Conducting pre-feasibility studies for new investments, covering preliminary market assessment, projected revenues, and estimated capital and operating costs. • Preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), including: o Comprehensive market study (volumes, quality parameters, pricing trends). o Evaluation and selection of appropriate technology options. o Assessment of capital expenditure and operating cost structures. o Analysis of raw material and input availability. o Organization structure and manpower planning. o Detailed financial modeling, including projected Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Account, Cash Flow Statements, investment schedule, depreciation, and financing options. • Managing procurement for projects in line with internal and financier guidelines, including: o Floating inquiries for equipment and services. o Technical and commercial evaluation of offers. o Negotiations with shortlisted vendors. o Finalization of detailed contract documentation. • Overseeing project implementation by: o Monitoring timelines, budgets, and quality parameters. o Coordinating consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams. o Reporting progress to management and financing institutions. • Negotiating long-term supply and sale agreements for new projects. • Liaising with Government agencies to ensure statutory approvals and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The candidate should have: • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical / Civil or equivalent) from a recognized university. • Minimum 20 years of relevant experience in implementing large industrial projects from concept to commissioning, including feasibility studies, project execution, and stabilization of operations. • Proven experience in handling multi-disciplinary projects involving engineering, procurement, construction, and financing. • Experience in the Sugar, Power, or Hotel Industry will be an added advantage. • Strong exposure to project financing, techno-commercial negotiations, statutory compliances, and stakeholder coordination.
