PLANT TECHNICAL MANAGER 
20 yearsJob Description : PLANT TECHNICAL MANAGER ZIMBABWE a highly skilled Plant Technical Manager to lead and oversee all technical operations across our manufacturing plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient installation, maintenance, and optimisation of plant machinery, utilities, and engineering systems that support large-scale food production operations. This is a senior leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, proven engineering management capability, and extensive experience in industrial plant environments. The role will also drive continuous improvement in plant reliability, operational efficiency, and technical standards across the facility. Manage day-to-day technical operations of plant machinery, utilities, and engineering systems. Lead installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of manufacturing equipment & production lines. Oversee operation and maintenance of plant utilities including power, water, steam, refrigeration, and compressed air systems. Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities across mechanical, electrical, civil, and instrumentation functions. Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programmes to ensure maximum equipment reliability. Fast-track new plant installations, upgrades, and manufacturing projects from concept to commissioning. Ensure compliance with food manufacturing standards, ISO requirements, and regulatory frameworks. Supervise and mentor engineers, technicians, and maintenance personnel. Manage spare parts inventory and technical procurement processes. Prepare and monitor plant technical budgets, maintenance costs, and performance reports. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance, safety, and efficiency. Provide strategic technical leadership to support production growth and operational excellence. Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline. Minimum of 15 years experience in food manufacturing or industrial plant operations. At least 5 years in a senior technical leadership or plant engineering role. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, plant utilities, and industrial equipment installation. Experience implementing ISO systems and food safety standards within manufacturing environments. Demonstrated expertise in engineering project management, plant upgrades, and commissioning. Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary engineering teams. Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to operate in high-performance manufacturing environments and deliver technical excellence. Plant Engineering Expertise – Advanced technical knowledge in plant machinery, utilities systems, and industrial equipment used in large-scale manufacturing environments. Maintenance & Reliability Management – Strong capability in developing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximise plant uptime and operational efficiency. Utilities Management – Expertise in managing critical plant services including power distribution, steam systems, water supply, refrigeration, and compressed air infrastructure. Project Engineering & Commissioning – Ability to manage plant expansion projects, equipment installation, and commissioning of new production lines. Technical Leadership – Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, mentor technical staff, and build strong maintenance and engineering capabilities. Regulatory & Quality Compliance – Strong understanding of ISO standards, food safety regulations, and industrial safety requirements. Budgeting & Cost Control – Ability to manage plant maintenance budgets, optimise operational costs, and implement cost-efficient technical solutions. Spare Parts & Asset Management – Competence in managing plant asset registers, spare parts inventories, and procurement processes. Problem Solving & Diagnostics – Strong analytical capability in diagnosing complex mechanical, electrical, and process engineering issues.
