20 yearsJob Description : VP MANUFACTURING NORTH AMERICA Open to International candidates with 25+ years experience The Vice President of Manufacturing will lead the operations of two facilities in Canada and the USA within the packaging manufacturing industry. This strategic leadership role requires a seasoned professional with expertise in operations management (union and non-union environments), process improvement, quality and compliance, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will be a results-driven leader with a proven ability to optimize manufacturing efficiency, control costs, ensure quality compliance, and drive continuous improvement. They will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing strategic initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness while aligning with business goals. Operational Leadership: Oversee multiple manufacturing sites— 24/7 facilities —to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term manufacturing strategies that drive operational excellence and cost-effectiveness. Production Management: Lead production processes, supply chain management, quality assurance, procurement, and scheduling. Cost Optimization: Manage raw material procurement, labour costs, and machine efficiency to maximize profitability. Team Leadership: Mentor and guide managers and staff across one unionized and two non-unionized plants. Machine Efficiency & Maintenance: Oversee maintenance, upgrades, and process optimization to ensure peak performance. Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to industry regulations, quality standards, workplace safety, and company policies. Performance Monitoring: Track key metrics, including OEE, LTI, material scrap rates, usage trends, and employee engagement. Customer & Market Alignment: Collaborate with customers, sales teams, and functional departments to meet market demands. Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Partner with sales, engineering, human resources, and finance to drive operational success. Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean, Six Sigma, CI, and 5S programs to enhance efficiency and product quality. Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, forecasts, and overall financial performance of manufacturing operations. Leverage Sister Company Resources: Utilize capabilities from sister companies to optimize efficiency and growth. Industry Representation: Serve as the company’s ambassador at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations management, ideally within packaging manufacturing. Proven ability to manage multiple manufacturing facilities. Strong knowledge of plastics and packaging quality and compliance standards. Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, and other manufacturing best practices. Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with experience in both unionized and non-unionized environments. Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. In-depth knowledge of PET and PP plastic packaging manufacturing. Proven experience advancing employee engagement among union and non-union hourly employees. Pay Transparency: This position is exempt from Ontario’s 2026 pay transparency requirements as the expected compensation exceeds $200,000.
