20 yearsJob Description : HOD–Production & Maintenance (Open to Indian candidates) Location: Lagos, Nigeria Industry: Plastics manufacturing Role Overview: The Head of Department– Production & Maintenance is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all production and maintenance activities within a plastic manufacturing environment. The role ensures efficient operations across multiple manufacturing lines, including injection moulding, PVC extrusion, recycling operations, PET blowing and injection, as well as associated utility systems. The HOD leads and develops the technical workforce, establishes and monitors KPIs, and ensures operational targets related to productivity, quality, and efficiency are consistently achieved. Key Responsibilities: Production Management: • Oversee daily production to meet output, quality, and cost targets. • Optimize operations across injection moulding, PVC extrusion, PET blowing, and PET injection lines. • Implement production schedules, manage material flow, and minimize downtime. • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 procedures and coordinate with QA, stores, and planning teams. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen, Lean). Maintenance Management: • Lead preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance for production machinery and utilities. • Ensure high equipment reliability and minimal downtime. • Maintain maintenance records, manage spare parts, and coordinate AMCs. • Enforce safety standards and statutory compliance. Leadership & Team Development: • Lead and manage supervisors, technicians, and operators (~200 workforce). • Train and develop local staff to enhance technical capability. • Set and monitor KPIs and conduct performance evaluations. Operational Excellence & Reporting: • Track key metrics such as OEE, downtime, waste, and production output. • Implement cost reduction initiatives and process improvements. • Ensure plant safety, housekeeping, and ISO compliance. Key Requirements: • 8+ years’ experience in production and maintenance within the plastic manufacturing industry. • Strong technical expertise in injection moulding, extrusion, PET blow moulding, and utility systems. • Proven leadership and team management capability with experience managing large technical teams. • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills. • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and industrial safety standards with ability to drive continuous improvement. • Good communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment. • Experience in Africa is highly preferred.
