Job Description : PRODUCTION MANAGER DRC Production Manager – Flexo Printing & Packaging Department: Production / Operations Reports To: Plant Head / General Manager / Factory Manager Job Summary: The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling all manufacturing processes within the flexo printing and packaging department. This role ensures that products are produced efficiently, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The manager will oversee print operations, team supervision, workflow optimization, and ensure compliance with safety and quality protocols. Key Responsibilities: Production Planning & Scheduling Develop and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on sales orders and forecasts. Allocate resources (manpower, machines, materials) effectively to maximize productivity and minimize downtime. Monitor WIP (Work in Progress) and update production schedules accordingly. Operations Management Oversee the entire flexographic printing process including prepress coordination, printing, lamination, slitting, and finishing operations. Ensure adherence to SOPs and printing specifications for each job. Monitor press run parameters such as ink viscosity, impression pressure, and print registration. Quality Assurance Implement quality checks at every stage of production to ensure print and packaging quality standards. Collaborate with QA/QC team for root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues. Team Management Lead and supervise machine operators, shift in-charges, helpers, and support staff. Conduct training and development programs to improve staff technical skills and performance. Set KPIs and conduct performance evaluations regularly. Maintenance & Troubleshooting Coordinate with the maintenance department to ensure timely preventive and breakdown maintenance of printing and converting machines. Troubleshoot production issues related to press, ink, substrate, or plate. Health, Safety & Compliance Enforce safety procedures and housekeeping standards across production areas. Ensure operations comply with local laws, labor regulations, and environmental policies. Cost & Waste Control Monitor material usage, wastage, and printing efficiency metrics. Suggest improvements to reduce production costs and increase yield. Coordination & Reporting Liaise with departments such as design/prepress, procurement, and dispatch to ensure smooth workflow. Prepare daily and monthly production reports, downtime analysis, and KPI dashboards. Knowledge of following machines are preferred:- Rotatec web offset Omet, Lombardi, Abmac Flexo – 7 Color Folder and Fluer – 4 & 6 corner, Die Cutting, Lamination Sheeter Lineomatic Flexo – Paper Bags / Book cover Slitting, Shrink wrapping Forming machine Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Printing Technology, Packaging Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. 10 years of experience in flexographic printing production, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial or supervisory role. Knowledge of flexible packaging materials (PET, BOPP, PE, etc.), inks, and adhesives. Technical Skills: In-depth understanding of flexo printing machines (CI, Stack, Narrow Web) and ancillary equipment (slitters, rewinders, laminators). Familiar with printing parameters, machine calibration, and print defect troubleshooting. Proficient in using ERP/production software and MS Office tools. Soft Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Effective communication and coordination. Focused on continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.
