10 yearsJob Description : MEP CONTRACT AND COMMERCIAL MANAGER NIGERIA a leading international contractor specialized in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) solutions to recruit a Senior Commercial Manager / Contracts Manager for its operations in Nigeria. Responsibilities The Senior Commercial Manager / Contracts Manager will play a critical leadership role in overseeing the full commercial and contractual management of major MEP packages on high-value projects. The position requires a strong ability to balance strategic commercial oversight with hands-on contract management, ensuring profitability, risk mitigation, and successful project delivery. Commercial Strategy and Project Delivery Develop and implement commercial strategies to maximize project profitability and protect the company’s commercial interests Lead the preparation and submission of interim valuations, final accounts, variations, and claims Monitor project performance and proactively identify risks and opportunities Contract Management and Claims Draft, review, and negotiate contractual correspondence, agreements, and settlement proposals Manage contractual notifications, extensions of time, and claims processes Defend commercial positions with clients, consultants, and engineers at senior level Stakeholder Management Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and key stakeholders Provide expert commercial and contractual advice to project leadership and technical teams Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff Ensure strong commercial discipline and best practices across projects Tendering and Business Support Contribute to tendering activities, bid preparation, and contract negotiations for new projects Support the company’s growth by providing commercial input on new opportunities Desired Skills and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field Master’s degree is an advantage Professional membership with RICS, NIQS, or equivalent is highly desirable Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial or contract management within the construction sector Proven experience in senior roles managing large-scale, high-value projects Strong expertise in FIDIC (Red, Yellow, Green Books) and JCT contracts Solid experience in MEP works on complex projects such as hospitals, airports, high-rise buildings, data centers, or infrastructure Demonstrated track record in negotiating and defending high-value claims and variations Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, multicultural environments Strong commercial and contractual acumen Strategic thinking with strong execution capabilities Advanced negotiation and dispute resolution skills Leadership and team development High level of resilience and adaptability Strong communication and influencing skills
