Job Description : FLEET MANAGER TANZANIA 10-15 years experience Fleet Manager - Commercial / Cargo Trucks - Tanzania As a Fleet Manager in the Transport sector, you will oversee and manage the transportation operations involved in leasing and full truck load movement of products, equipment, and materials. Your role will involve planning routes, coordinating with carriers, ensuring compliance with regulations, and optimizing transportation efficiency to meet delivery schedules and customer requirements. Responsibilities: 1. Transportation Planning: Develop transportation plans and schedules to ensure timely delivery of agricultural products to customers, farms, and distribution centres. Plan and optimize routes to minimize transportation costs and maximize efficiency. 2. Carrier Management: Identify, select, and negotiate contracts with transportation carriers, trucking companies, and freight forwarders. Monitor carrier performance, including on-time delivery, transit times, and service quality. 3. Fleet Management: Oversee the management and maintenance of company-owned or contracted fleets of vehicles, trucks, and trailers. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, vehicle maintenance schedules, and inspection requirements. 4. Driver Management: Recruit, train, and supervise drivers and transportation personnel. Monitor driver performance, conduct driver evaluations, and address any performance or disciplinary issues. 5. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, including road safety regulations, driver licensing requirements, and vehicle weight restrictions. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to transportation permits, licenses, and inspections. 6. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and hazards associated with transportation activities and implement measures to mitigate risks. Develop contingency plans for addressing unforeseen events, such as accidents or vehicle breakdowns. 7. Cost Management: Monitor transportation expenses, including fuel costs, vehicle maintenance, and driver wages. Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in transportation operations. 8. Customer Service: Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to address transportation-related inquiries, resolve issues, and provide updates on shipment status. Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by meeting delivery commitments and providing exceptional service.
