Job Description : PLANT MANAGER TANZANIA 20+ years experience This high-impact leadership role is responsible for the strategic and technical oversight of the Cosmetics and Plastics manufacturing divisions. The manager will lead an industrial-scale operation producing a monthly volume of 3,000 tonnes of finished goods, ensuring consistent output for both chemical (Cosmetics) and mechanical (Plastics) processing. The successful candidate must drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), manage multi-million-shilling OPEX/CAPEX budgets, and maintain rigorous GMP 22716 standards across all production lines. 1. Multi-Division Operations Management Production Planning & Control (PPC): Direct daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules for both Cosmetics and Plastics to ensure 100% fulfillment of sales targets. Plastics/Packaging Oversight: Manage the operational requirements specific to plastics, including MRP system implementation and capacity buildup ahead of business needs. OEE Improvement: Implement Plant KPI plans at the Dar es Salaam facility to drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through downtime reduction and spare part availability. Capacity Planning: Lead automation projects and efficiency improvements to ensure plant capacity matches growing market demand for both divisions. Monthly Throughput: Optimize manufacturing workflows to achieve a consistent monthly volume of 3,000 tonnes (approx. 120 tonnes/day) of combined output. 2. Maintenance & Engineering Oversight Cosmetics Infrastructure: Oversee the preventive maintenance of high-capacity mixing vessels, homogenizers, and automated high-speed filling lines to ensure zero contamination and consistent batch quality. Plastics Infrastructure: Manage the technical uptime and preventive maintenance of injection and blow molding machinery, ensuring a continuous supply of packaging components for the cosmetics division. Spare Parts Management: Ensure 100% availability of critical spares to prevent costly downtime in a high-tonnage production environment. Efficiency Improvements: Drive preventive maintenance cycles through efficiency improvements and increased automation to lower the total cost of operations. Facility Utilities: Ensure the continuous operation of shared utilities (air compressors, chillers, power systems) necessary for both chemical processing and plastic molding. 3. Quality Systems & Regulatory Compliance GMP 22716 Certification: Establish and innovate quality systems to ensure the facility remains ready for GMP 22716 Audit & Certification at all times. Quality Indices (QI): Maintain a "No Product in Red Zone" status by monitoring the Monthly QI and ensuring zero product recalls despite high production velocity. Validation & Compliance: Validate the Bill of Materials (BOM) within the ERP system and strictly enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all plant functions. Audit Performance: Aim for top-tier Annual Audit Scores by maintaining external quality accreditations and regulatory compliance. 4. Financial Stewardship & Cost Control Budgetary Management: Closely monitor and control overheads, OPEX, and CAPEX expenses within the yearly approved budgets. Variance & Wastage: Implement rigorous tracking systems to measure and minimize material variance, reflecting these results in the product Gross Profit (GP). Cost of Quality: Drive continuous improvement in the procurement and usage of RM & PM to lower the overall cost of quality. Required Skills and Qualifications Scale Expertise: Demonstrated track record of managing massive industrial volumes, specifically 3,000 tonnes per month or higher. Dual-Stream Knowledge: Deep technical understanding of both Chemical/Cosmetic processing and Mechanical/Plastic molding. GMP Leadership: Advanced expertise in ISO/GMP 22716 standards and regulatory audit preparation. Maintenance Logic: Strong background in managing preventive maintenance cycles for complex, high-speed automated machinery. Systems Fluency: Proficiency in ERP, MRP, and OEE monitoring systems to drive data-based decision-making. Any bachelors degree Preferred.
