Job Description : DIRECTOR OF DATA UK Director of Data is a newly created, senior leadership role that will report directly to the Chief Executive. This is not a maintenance role. It is a builder’s role — for someone who can architect a world-class data platform from a strong but complex starting point, lead a growing internal team, manage key third-party partnerships, and embed a data-first culture across the organisation. My client wants Head of Data/CDO/Director of Data/Head of Data Architecture level candidates who have leading data engineering and data science/AI/ML teams. Proven track record leading and delivering large-scale data platform transformations – Deep expertise in modern data architecture: data vault, data lakehouse, semantic layers, and data mesh principles – Strong experience with cloud-native data tooling — Microsoft Fabric experience is highly advantageous – Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing data engineering and analytics teams – Experience working with AI/ML teams and designing data infrastructure that supports agent-based and generative AI workloads – Strong stakeholder management and communication skills — able to translate technical complexity into business language – Experience managing external delivery partners and technology vendors.
