Job Description : FC DRC Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Environment: Corporate Office / Mining Sector Experience: 1520 years total (Minimum 5 years as Financial Controller) Core Requirements: CA / CPA qualified, African work experience mandatory and fluent French spoken skils Position Purpose The Financial Controller directs all financial, accounting, and compliance functions for our client copper mining operations. Will ensure robust internal controls, optimize cost structures, and provide strategic financial insights to the executive team in a dynamic operating environment. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting Oversee closure: Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial book closures. Consolidate reports: Prepare accurate IFRS-compliant financial statements for the corporate office. Manage cash flow: Optimize working capital, treasury functions, and foreign exchange risks. Coordinate audits: Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external auditors. Cost Control & Mining Analytics Track production costs: Monitor mining operational expenditures (OPEX) and capital expenditures (CAPEX). Analyze variances: Compare actual mining yields and costs against budgets weekly. Optimize inventory: Oversee valuation of stockpiles, concentrates, and spare parts inventory. Governance, Tax & Compliance Ensure compliance: Navigate DRC mining codes, OHADA accounting laws, and local regulations. Manage tax filings: Oversee corporate tax, royalties, custom duties, and transfer pricing. Strengthen controls: Design and enforce strict internal financial control frameworks. Leadership & Strategic Support Drive budgeting: Lead the annual business planning and forecasting cycles. Mentor teams: Supervise, train, and develop the local Congolese and finance department. Support decisions: Provide financial modeling for expansion projects and equipment procurement. Candidate Profile Qualifications Should be qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is mandatory. Experience Requirements 15 to 20 years of post-qualification financial experience. Leadership: Minimum 5 years of experience in a Financial Controller role. Sector: Proven background in capital-intensive industries, ideally copper or base metal mining. Geography: Mandatory prior work experience within Africa. Systems: Mandatory hands-on operational ERP accounting software Skills & Competencies Languages: Full professional fluency in both French and English is mandatory. Regulation: Deep understanding of OHADA accounting principles and African tax structures. Soft skills: Strong resilience, cultural adaptability, and leadership presence.
