The Opportunity An opportunity exists for an experienced and commercially minded General Manager to join the executive leadership team and play a key role in shaping business performance and future growth. Reporting directly to the CEO, this position holds broad accountability across engineering, manufacturing, project delivery, service operations and business performance. You will lead multiple operational functions and be responsible for ensuring projects and services are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard while driving long-term growth and continuous improvement. This role requires a leader who can operate strategically while remaining connected to execution — someone comfortable influencing at executive level whilst building strong teams, improving systems and delivering measurable commercial outcomes. Key Responsibilities Lead engineering, manufacturing, service and operational teams to achieve business objectives. Drive safe, profitable and efficient delivery of projects and operational services. Develop and execute business and operational improvement strategies. Manage performance across multiple business functions and profit centres. Build and strengthen relationships with customers, suppliers and key stakeholders. Deliver projects and operational outcomes safely, on time and to specification. Lead, mentor and develop high-performing leadership and operational teams. Drive continuous improvement across systems, processes and delivery capability. Contribute to strategic planning and support long-term business growth. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and operational excellence. What We’re Looking For Demonstrated experience in a General Manager, Operations Director, Business Unit Manager or similar senior leadership role. Tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related technical discipline. Proven experience leading engineering, manufacturing, project delivery and/or service-based operations. Strong commercial capability with experience managing P&L, budgets and business performance. Track record delivering operational excellence, transformation and business improvement initiatives. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and building leadership capability. Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills. Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational leadership. Commitment to maintaining and promoting a strong safety culture. Highly regarded: Experience within water, utilities, industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure or related sectors. Postgraduate qualifications such as an MBA or management qualification. Experience operating across multi-site or service delivery environments.
