General Manager

Job Description : GROUP GENERAL MANAGER A diversified East African business group with interests in media, real estate, hospitality, technology, engineering, and emerging growth sectors is looking for a Group GM. The Group operates across multiple countries and is entering a new phase of growth, institutionalization, diversification, and expansion. Responsibilities Lead Group-wide execution of approved strategy, budgets, business plans, and performance improvement initiatives. Supervise and support Operating Company General Managers in achieving commercial, operational, and people objectives. Oversee Group-level departments and shared services to ensure responsiveness, efficiency, and alignment with business priorities. Review management reports, operating metrics, cash flow priorities, risk matters, and corrective action plans. Strengthen governance, accountability, compliance, internal controls, and organizational discipline across the Group. Support growth initiatives, expansion opportunities, strategic partnerships, and new ventures as directed by the Executive Chairman. Develop strong leadership teams, succession pipelines, and a culture of execution, integrity, and ownership. Requirements Minimum twelve (12) to fifteen (15) years of progressive leadership experience, including substantial senior management responsibility. Proven experience overseeing multiple business units, subsidiaries, operating companies, or geographically dispersed teams. Strong commercial, operational, financial, and people-management capability. Demonstrated ability to improve performance, strengthen systems, manage complexity, and lead organizational transformation. Experience working with founders, boards, shareholders, executive directors, investors, financiers, or senior external stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Economics, Commerce, Engineering, Strategic Management, or a related field. MBA or equivalent master's degree is desirable. Executive education in leadership, strategy, corporate governance, finance, investments, or advanced management will be an added advantage.
