PLANT HEAD

Job Description : PLANT HEAD FLOUR MILLING UGANDA KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Operational Leadership Oversee the day-to-day operations of the flour mill, animal feed plant, and soya processing facility. Ensure efficient production planning, process optimization, and plant performance. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and supply chain operations. Monitor production efficiency, extraction rates, yields, downtime, and overall plant KPIs. Ensure compliance with food safety, feed safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Business & Commercial Management Develop and execute operational and commercial strategies aligned with company objectives. Manage plant profitability, operational costs, and overall financial performance. Work closely with procurement, sales, and finance teams to ensure smooth business operations. Support business expansion, process upgrades, and capacity improvement initiatives. Prepare and present operational and financial reports to senior management and shareholders. Team Building & Leadership Recruit, develop, and lead departmental managers and operational teams. Build a strong performance-driven culture with clear accountability and structure. Establish effective management systems, SOPs, reporting structures, and operational controls. Mentor supervisors and department heads to strengthen leadership capacity across the organization. Promote high standards of discipline, safety, teamwork, and professionalism. Systems & Compliance Implement operational systems for inventory control, production monitoring, maintenance, and quality assurance. Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and statutory regulations. Coordinate with quality assurance teams to maintain product consistency and customer satisfaction. Lead audits, certifications, and continuous compliance improvement initiatives. Strategic Development Identify operational bottlenecks and implement practical solutions. Support new product development and process optimization. Drive long-term operational sustainability and organizational growthications Bachelors degree in Milling Technology, Food Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Agribusiness, or a related field. A Masters degree or professional qualification in business or operations management is an added advantage. Experience Minimum of 10 years experience in flour milling, animal feeds, grain processing, or related agro-processing industries. At least 5 years in a senior management or plant leadership role. Strong understanding of flour milling operations, feed manufacturing, and soya processing.
