Job Description : CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (COO) – UPSTREAM OIL & GAS Location: Lagos, Nigeria (with frequent travel to Port Harcourt) Industry: Oil & Gas (Upstream Sector) Employment Type: Full-time | Executive Level Responsibilities • Direct and optimize all upstream operational activities, including exploration, drilling, field development, and production operations, to maximize asset value and ROI. • Oversee reservoir management, production engineering, and facility maintenance to ensure optimal uptime and cost-efficient extraction. • Govern capital-intensive upstream projects from design through execution, ensuring strict adherence to timelines, budgets, and technical specifications. • Institutionalize an absolute, zero-compromise Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) culture across all corporate offices and field locations. • Drive strict cost-governance, manage OPEX/CAPEX allocations, and build highly capable, multidisciplinary engineering and operational teams. Requirements & Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical) or Geosciences. An MBA or a master’s degree in a related field is highly advantageous. • Minimum of 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in the upstream oil and gas sector, with at least 5 years in a distinct executive or senior management capacity (e.g., VP of Operations, Technical Director, or COO). • Deep knowledge of drilling operations, production technology, reservoir management, and field development planning within the Nigerian oil and gas landscape. • Thorough understanding of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), local content laws, and standard production sharing contracts (PSCs/Joint Ventures).
