Job Description : COUNTRY HEAD DRC Head Copper Mining Project Location: Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Experience: 25+ Years (Copper mining project experience of minimum 10 years is a must) Industry: Mining / Metals (Copper) Role Overview The Country Head will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the copper mining project in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This is a senior leadership role requiring strong strategic, operational, financial, and stakeholder management capabilities to ensure safe, compliant, and profitable operations. Key Responsibilities Strategic & Business Leadership Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the copper mining project in DRC. Develop and execute short-term and long-term business plans aligned with corporate objectives. Drive production optimization, cost control, and operational excellence. Operations Management Oversee mining, processing, maintenance, logistics, and infrastructure development. Ensure adherence to production targets, quality standards, and timelines. Implement best practices in mine planning, ore extraction, and processing. Financial & Commercial Oversight Manage project budgets, CAPEX, and OPEX with strong cost discipline. Monitor financial performance, profitability, and cash flow. Support commercial negotiations, contracts, and vendor management. HSE & Compliance Ensure strict compliance with HSE standards, local laws, mining regulations, and international best practices. Promote a strong safety culture across all operations. Liaise with regulatory authorities for licenses, permits, and statutory approvals. Stakeholder & Government Relations Act as the key interface with government bodies, local authorities, communities, and partners. Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure smooth operations. Manage CSR initiatives and community engagement programs. People & Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop a multicultural workforce. Build strong local leadership and succession planning. Foster a performance-driven and ethical work culture. Key Requirements Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master’s/MBA preferred). 25+ years of experience in large-scale mining operations, with significant exposure to copper mining projects. Prior experience in Africa (preferably DRC) is highly desirable. Proven track record in senior leadership or country head–level roles. Strong understanding of mining regulations, HSE standards, and government liaison in Africa. Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. Willingness to be based full-time in DRC.
