Job Description : PLANT HEAD KENYA Plant Head will lead the overall operations of a modern Kraft Paper Manufacturing Plant. The incumbent will be responsible for driving operational excellence across production, maintenance, quality, utilities, safety, supply chain coordination, and cost optimization while ensuring consistent achievement of production and profitability targets. The ideal candidate should possess extensive experience in recycled Kraft Paper manufacturing, with strong expertise in paper machine operations, stock preparation, process optimization, maintenance management, and people leadership. Key Responsibilities Plant Operations Lead end-to-end manufacturing operations of the Kraft Paper Mill. Ensure optimum utilization of plant capacity while achieving production targets. Monitor daily production, quality, efficiency, and machine performance. Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and plant productivity. Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with business objectives. Production Management Supervise Stock Preparation, Paper Machine, Finishing, and Dispatch operations. Ensure smooth production of: Kraft Liner Test Liner Fluting Medium Packaging Paper Grades Optimize machine speed, production yield, and raw material consumption. Minimize process losses and production downtime. Maintenance & Reliability Oversee Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation departments. Ensure preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance programs are effectively implemented. Improve machine reliability and reduce unplanned shutdowns. Lead annual shutdown planning and execution. Utilities Management Oversee Boiler House, Water Treatment Plant, Compressed Air Systems, and Power Distribution. Monitor energy consumption and implement energy-saving initiatives. Optimize steam, water, electricity, and fuel usage. Quality Management Ensure compliance with customer quality specifications. Maintain stringent quality control throughout the manufacturing process. Reduce customer complaints and improve product consistency. Drive continuous process improvement through root cause analysis. Cost Optimization Reduce manufacturing costs through process improvements. Optimize raw material, chemical, and utility consumption. Control maintenance costs without compromising plant reliability. Improve operational efficiencies through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Ensure compliance with all statutory safety and environmental regulations. Promote a zero-accident safety culture. Oversee implementation of ISO standards and environmental compliance. Monitor Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) operations and waste management practices. Leadership & People Management Lead and mentor cross-functional teams across Production, Maintenance, Utilities, Quality, Stores, and Safety. Develop succession planning and employee competency enhancement programs. Foster a high-performance and continuous improvement culture. Continuous Improvement Lead Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, TPM, and Six Sigma initiatives. Improve productivity, quality, and operational efficiency. Drive automation and digitalization projects where applicable. Reporting Prepare and present periodic reports on: Production Plant efficiency Downtime analysis Maintenance performance Cost control Energy consumption Safety performance Budget adherence Educational Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Paper Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline. Master's Degree or MBA in Operations Management will be an added advantage. Experience 15-20 years of experience in the Paper Manufacturing Industry. Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role such as Plant Head, Factory Manager, Works Manager, or Operations Head. Hands-on experience in Kraft Paper / Recycled Paper Manufacturing is mandatory. International or African work experience will be preferred.
