Job Description : Chief MetallurgistLocation: North-Western Tanzania Region Reports To: Operations Director Age Requirement: Under 45 years Position Overview Our Client is seeking a dynamic, results-driven Chief Metallurgist to oversee all gold processing and extraction operations for their mining company. The ideal candidate will possess deep metallurgical expertise, strong leadership capabilities to manage a large multicultural plant team, and mandatory prior gold mining experience in Africa. Requisite candidate will be responsible for optimizing recovery rates, maintaining safety and environmental standards and driving continuous plant improvement. Key Responsibilities · Plant Operations & Optimization: Lead all metallurgical operations, including crushing, milling, CIL/CIP circuits, elution and smelting. Maximize gold recovery while minimizing operational costs. · Leadership & Team Management: Direct, mentor and build capacity within the metallurgical and processing teams. Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability and skills transfer. · Process Troubleshooting: Identify bottlenecks and implement innovative solutions to improve throughput and plant efficiency. · Metallurgical Accounting: Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly metallurgical accounting, mass balances, and reconciliation reports to ensure strict grade control. · Safety & Compliance: Enforce all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and environmental regulations. Ensure Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) management aligns with corporate and local guidelines. Qualifications & Experience · Education: Bachelors degree in Metallurgy Engineering. · Experience: Minimum of 15 to 18 years in the gold mining industry, with at least 5 years in a senior metallurgical management role. · African Experience : Proven track record of working in gold mining operations within Africa mandatory. · Age Limit: Must be under 45 years of age. · Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities. Strong problem-solving skills and working knowledge of process control systems (e.g., SCADA). Please note : 1. This is URGENT position and hence early joining is preferable 2.
