Job Description : Operations Manager — Supermarket Retail Network Location: Kampala, Uganda Salary Range: USD 2,000 – USD 2,500 / month Job Type: Full-time - onsite About the Role: The Operations Manager is the primary driver of organizational efficiency, growth, and brand consistency across our entire retail network. In this role, your core mandate is to synchronize multi-branch supermarket operations with overarching business goals—transforming corporate strategy into seamless, sustainable frontline execution. We are looking for a strategic leader who champions a "systems-thinking" approach to optimize store performance, eliminate operational friction, control shrinkage, and cultivate a human-first corporate culture that secures long-term institutional stability. Key Responsibilities: Operational Excellence & Scaling Scale and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across distinct geographic branches. Optimize retail store layouts, visual merchandising standards, and technology integration. Design robust contingency plans to buffer business operations against unexpected supply chain or market disruptions. ???? Financial Performance & Margin Protection Maintain a rigorous focus on Profit & Loss (P&L) performance, cost reduction, and accurate budget forecasting. Implement systemic controls to manage retail shrinkage, waste, inventory loss, and cash-handling procedures. ???? Strategic Supply Chain Synchronization: Collaborate seamlessly with procurement and warehouse networks to guarantee optimal stock availability. Leverage expertise in vendor negotiations to build resilient logistics frameworks. ???? Human-First Leadership & Governance Foster a cohesive corporate culture through fair and consistent enforcement of HR policies. Proactively identify skill gaps, mentor store teams, and introduce motivational systems to boost retention. Ensure 100% compliance with local labor laws, statutory regulations, and health and safety codes. Candidate Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (Required). Advanced Education: Master’s degree (MBA) or professional certifications in operations, leadership, or supply chain management (Added Advantage). Total Experience: 5–7 years of progressive experience within fast-paced operational environments. Leadership Experience: Minimum 3 years in a senior leadership role directly overseeing multi-unit business structures. Industry Background: Proven track record in multi-branch supermarket operations or large-scale FMCG retail ecosystems.
