Job Description : MINING COUNTRY HEAD NIGERIA Experience: 25+ Years Industry: Bauxite Mining Employment Type: Full-time Educational Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Mining Engineering is mandatory. Candidates with a degree in Mineral Engineering, Geology, Metallurgy, or a closely related mining discipline may also be considered, subject to strong bauxite mining experience. Postgraduate qualification / MBA in Mining Management, Business Administration, or a related field will be an added advantage. Relevant professional certifications in Mining, Mine Safety, Project Management, or Mineral Operations will be preferred. Key Responsibilities Support the Country Head in strategic and operational management of bauxite mining operations. Lead mine production, planning, drilling & blasting, excavation, hauling and ore handling activities. Drive production targets, productivity, cost optimisation and operational efficiency. Oversee contractors, mining equipment utilisation and fleet performance. Ensure compliance with HSE, environmental and statutory requirements. Manage relationships with government authorities, local communities and other key stakeholders. Coordinate with geology, mine planning, logistics, rail, port and commercial teams to ensure an efficient mine-to-export operation. Manage operational budgets, CAPEX/OPEX and overall business performance. Drive continuous improvement, operational excellence and technology adoption. Develop local leadership capabilities and succession planning. Provide strategic and operational reports to the Country Head and senior management. Mandatory Requirements 25+ years of overall experience in the mining industry. Bauxite mining experience is mandatory. Extensive experience in large-scale open-pit bauxite mining operations. Proven experience at Deputy Country Head / Country Head / General Manager / Head of Mining / Operations Director level or equivalent. Strong understanding of the complete bauxite mining value chain, including mine-to-port logistics and export operations. International/Africa mining experience will be highly preferred. Strong leadership, commercial, operational and stakeholder-management capabilities. Experience managing large multicultural teams and mining contractors. Strong understanding of mining safety, environmental and regulatory requirements. Willingness to be based in Guinea, West Africa. Important: Candidates without significant hands-on Bauxite Mining experience will not be considered, regardless of their overall mining experience.
