General Manager

Job Description : GENERAL MANAGER - Papua New Guinea Our client requires the service of a General Manager to plan, organise and direct all operations of the company’s extensive activities in PNG within the parameters set by the Managing Director. The company is involved in many facets of timber related activities including the manufacture of plywood, sawn treated timber, prefabricated buildings, construction division, design and architectural offices and hardware outlet. The company also has interest in the generation of hydro power for the national grid, pastoral acreage with over 1500 head of cattle, an abattoir, bakery, butcher shop and grocery retail and wholesale outlet. The company employs over 1500 national staff and has been established in PNG for over 70 years. The incumbent will have had a minimum ten years management experience in the timber industry or similar diversified field, sales and marketing experience and be able to demonstrate a track record of success and the ability to meet deadlines. In order to be successful the candidate must demonstrate: Desirable skills: The successful candidate should hold relevant business management qualifications preferably gained in the industry or related technical field. They must have a stable personality with developed management and communication skills, methodical work habits and proven ability to work under pressure. The incumbent would be based in PNG and would be required to travel domestically and internationally from time to time.
