Job Description : Head – Tool Engineering | Automotive Sheet Metal Components DORTMUND GERMANY Open to International candidates Experience: 15+ Years Industry: Automotive / Auto Components Function: Tool Engineering / Tool Development Position Overview We are looking for an experienced Head – Tool Engineering to lead tooling strategy, development and execution for automotive sheet-metal components and assemblies. The role will be responsible for ensuring robust tooling solutions, timely project execution, cost optimization and high-quality tool development. Key Responsibilities Lead the complete Tool Engineering function covering tool design, development, try-outs, validation, commissioning and buy-off. Manage development of press tools, dies, stamping tools, fixtures, gauges and welding-related tooling for automotive sheet-metal components. Drive tooling projects from concept/design review through development, try-out, correction and production handover. Review and approve tool designs, DFM/DFA, process feasibility and engineering changes. Manage tool suppliers, tool-room partners and ensure quality, cost and delivery (QCD) of tooling projects. Drive tooling cost estimation, budgeting, cost reduction and VAVE initiatives. Coordinate with NPD, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Production and Program Management teams. Ensure tooling readiness for new product launches, APQP, PPAP and SOP timelines. Lead tool trials, dimensional validation, buy-off and tool capability improvements. Drive improvements in tool life, cycle time, productivity, rejection and maintenance costs. Develop and mentor a strong Tool Engineering and Tool Development team. Candidate Profile 15+ years of experience in Tool Engineering / Tool Development within the automotive or auto-component industry. Strong hands-on experience in sheet-metal stamping, press tools, dies, fixtures and gauges. Experience in managing tool design, tool development, try-outs and tool suppliers. Strong understanding of automotive sheet-metal manufacturing processes and tooling technologies. Proven experience in tooling cost, project management, supplier development and cost optimization. Experience working with automotive OEMs / Tier-1 customers and new product development programs. Strong leadership, stakeholder-management and problem-solving skills. B.E./B.Tech – Mechanical / Production / Automobile Engineering preferred.
