Head of Logistics

Job Description : Head of Logistics Head of Logistics | FMCG | Coastal South Africa We are seeking an experienced Head of Logistics to lead the end-to-end logistics function for a well-established FMCG business. This is a senior operational leadership role with responsibility across the full logistics value chain, from factory through to customer delivery. The successful candidate will bring strong FMCG logistics experience, a proven track record of managing complex, multi-functional logistics operations, and the leadership capability to optimise service, cost, efficiency and operational performance. Non-negotiables: FMCG Logistics Expertise and BEE/EE role Key areas of responsibility include: - End-to-end logistics strategy and operational execution - Factory logistics and the movement of finished goods - Warehouse operations, including company-owned facilities - Inventory management and stock optimisation - Primary and secondary transportation and distribution - Management and optimisation of an in-house fleet - Chilled/cold-chain and ambient product logistics - Distribution network optimisation and route-to-market efficiency - 3PL/outsourced logistics management, including evaluation of outsourcing opportunities - Logistics cost management, budgeting and productivity improvement - Service-level, OTIF and operational performance management - Health, safety, compliance and operational governance - Leadership and development of a sizeable, multi-disciplinary logistics team Ideal profile / Competencies & Experience: - Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, Commerce or a related (essential) - 10–15+ years' relevant experience, with significant Snr Logistics Leadership exposure - Strong FMCG experience (essential) - Demonstrated experience managing multiple logistics functions, rather than a single warehouse or transport operation - Experience across warehousing, inventory, fleet, primary and secondary distribution - Exposure to cold-chain/chilled products (highly advantageous) - Experience managing both owned and outsourced logistics environments - Strong commercial, analytical and operational capability - Proven ability to lead large teams and drive continuous improvement - Strategic thinker who is equally comfortable being close to the operational detail - BEE/EE designation or equivalent (essential) The role is based in a coastal location in South Africa and offers the opportunity to join a strong organisation with a positive culture and a significant operational mandate.
