General Manager

Job Description : GENERAL MANAGER – MINING OPERATIONS An investor is seeking an experienced General Manager – Mining Operations to lead the development and operation of a high-value, multi-commodity mining project in Tanzania. Location: Tanzania Work arrangement: Site-based, hybrid FIFO or residential Reporting to: Board of Directors The project will focus primarily on gold, alongside copper, nickel, manganese, lithium, quartz crystals, and gemstones. Key responsibilities • Lead the project from development and construction through commissioning and commercial production. • Supervise the installation and commissioning of leaching, electrowinning, CIL/CIP, flotation and mineral-sorting facilities. • Assume full profit-and-loss responsibility and manage major CAPEX and OPEX budgets. • Recruit and lead the technical, operational and processing management teams. • Oversee mine planning, metallurgical recovery, grade control and production performance. • Ensure compliance with Tanzanian mining, environmental and local-content requirements. • Manage safety, community relations, security, supply-chain and operational risks. • Report directly to the Board on financial, technical, legal and operational performance. Minimum requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geology or a related discipline. • MBA or Master’s degree in Project Management is an advantage. • At least 15 years of progressive leadership experience in mining. • Proven experience leading a greenfield mining project into commercial production. • Practical experience with hydrometallurgical leaching, solvent extraction or electrowinning facilities. • Strong exposure to gold and base-metal processing. • Experience managing major mining budgets, preferably exceeding USD 100 million. • A First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency, or an internationally recognized equivalent eligible for registration in Tanzania. • African or East African mining experience is highly desirable. This is a senior executive appointment requiring strong technical knowledge, commercial judgment and the ability to establish a high-performing mining operation from the ground up.
