Job Description : GENERAL MANAGER- CFS & TRANSPORTATION TANZANIA General Manager - CFS & Transportation JOB PURPOSE To provide overall leadership and operational management of the Container Freight Station (CFS), transportation fleet, cargo handling, warehousing, and related logistics activities. Logistics Clearing Transport Reports To Managing Director/ CEO The role ensures safe, efficient, compliant, and profitable operations while maintaining high service standards for customers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1 CFS OPERATIONS • Manage day-to-day CFS operations, including container receiving, stripping, stuffing, cargo handling, storage and container return. Ensure proper documentation and coordination with customs, port authorities, shipping lines, clearing agents and customers. 2 TRANSPORTATION OPERATIONS • Manage the company's truck fleet and transport operations with the Transport Manager. ? Plan vehicle allocation, dispatching, routing and turnaround times. ? Monitor truck utilisation, fuel consumption, maintenance and operating costs. 3 CUSTOMER & COMMERCIAL MANAGEMENT Location Dar es Salaam, Tanzania 4 FLEET & ASSET MANAGEMENT Establish preventive maintenance programs for trucks and equipment. ? Control spare parts, tyres, fuel and maintenance costs. ? Evaluate performance and optimum utilisation of trucks, forklifts, reach stackers and other equipment. 5 PEOPLE MANAGEMENT • Lead and develop CFS, transport, fleet, warehouse, workshop and administrative teams. • Establish clear job descriptions, targets and KPIs. • Conduct performance reviews and implement training programs. • Promote discipline, accountability and teamwork. Ensure adequate workforce planning for operational requirements. 6 SAFETY, SECURITY & COMPLIANCE • Ensure compliance with applicable Tanzania transport, customs, occupational health and safety requirements. Ensure proper incident, accident and cargo-damage reporting. • Maintain emergency response and business-continuity procedures. • Conduct regular operational and safety audits.
