Job Description : GM FLOUR MILLING SIERRA LEONE To lead end-to-end flour milling operations, ensuring optimal production output, high extraction rates, consistent product quality, efficient wheat utilization and reliable plant performance. The role holder will be accountable for milling operations and plant-level financial performance, including manufacturing costs, yield, productivity, energy efficiency and operating expenditure. The position requires strong technical expertise in flour and semolina milling, coupled with operational leadership, cost discipline and the ability to develop high-performing teams. Strong technical and operational leadership. Commercial awareness and understanding of manufacturing economics. Analytical and data-driven decision-making. 2. Key Responsibilities A. Milling Operations and Production Management Lead day-to-day flour and semolina milling operations to achieve production targets and customer requirements. Optimize milling flowsheets, roll settings, grinding performance, sifting efficiency and process parameters. Maximize flour and semolina extraction while maintaining required product quality. Oversee wheat cleaning, conditioning, tempering, grinding, blending and finished-product handling. Coordinate production planning with procurement, quality, maintenance, warehousing and dispatch teams. Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve throughput and capacity utilization. B. Plant-Level Financial Performance and Cost Control Manage manufacturing costs and operational expenditure within approved budgets. Monitor cost per tonne, wheat utilization, extraction rates, energy consumption, manpower costs and maintenance expenditure. Improve plant profitability through yield enhancement, process optimization, waste reduction and efficient resource utilization. Analyse budget-versus-actual performance, investigate cost variances and implement corrective measures. Work with Finance to prepare operating budgets, forecasts and periodic plant-performance reports. Collaborate with Commercial and Procurement teams to understand the operational impact of raw-material costs, product mix and market requirements. Identify and deliver measurable cost-saving and productivity-improvement initiatives. C. Wheat Procurement Support, Storage and Utilization Oversee wheat intake, sampling, grading, segregation, storage, blending and issuance to milling operations. Ensure effective silo management, stock rotation, inventory accuracy and prevention of grain deterioration. Coordinate wheat conditioning and blending to maintain consistent milling performance and finished-product quality. Minimize grain losses, contamination, infestation and handling inefficiencies. Provide technical inputs on wheat characteristics, suitability for milling and their impact on extraction and production costs. D. Plant Efficiency and Operational Excellence Monitor production output, extraction performance, capacity utilization, OEE and downtime. Implement standard operating procedures and structured performance-monitoring systems. Conduct root-cause analysis of process losses, recurring breakdowns and production inefficiencies. Drive continuous improvement in throughput, energy efficiency, waste reduction and overall equipment effectiveness. Establish operational benchmarks and ensure consistent achievement of production and efficiency targets.Role & responsibilities Preferred candidate profile 1520+ years of experience in industrial flour milling, preferably in large-capacity flour and semolina mills. Strong expertise in milling flowsheets, wheat conditioning, grinding, sifting, purification, blending and extraction optimization. Experience in wheat silos, grain handling, storage and raw-material utilization. Understanding of milling machinery, automation, process control and maintenance coordination. Proven track record in cost control, yield improvement, energy efficiency and operational excellence. Experience managing production teams and coordinating across multiple functions. Exposure to West Africa, Africa or other international operating environments will be preferred
