Job Description : BUSINESS UNIT HEAD STEEL PLANT WEST AFRICA the largest steel producer ( Steel Tubes and Roofing products) in East, West and Central Africa. The General Manager directs all commercial manufacturing activities. This position manages the resources, equipment and daily operations activities of the manufacturing plant to ensure that production requirements are met on target. Roles and Responsibilities: Strategy, planning and budgeting Lead business planning and budgeting for all departments in line with the group strategy, Present budget, growth plan and anticipated challenges to the management and seek feedback. Be a catalyst for change management and direct team to outline the roadmap for change management and implementation, where-ever required. Business review To present periodically as per agreed timelines business deck, to MD and to group leadership. Lead management review meetings with heads of department; discuss performance, improvements, challenges and escalations; Guide to resolve issues. Conduct periodic reviews to monitor the performance of different business functions; take corrective measures in case of deviations and ensure targets set are achieved. Supply Chain Management/RM & production planning (Procurement, Logistics and production Work backwards with a clear sales plan, to derive resource requirement (Raw material/labour). Oversee adherence to manufacturing, planning and raw material procurement plans as per requirements. To ensure the working capital cycle is reviewed periodically and is in line with the target set. Lead strategy setting and ensure adherence to best practices in the supply chain in the industry. Conceptualize and guide special projects within technical operations to attain operational excellence. Project management. HR and Finance management Oversee the deployment of the people philosophy, HR strategy and plans, in alignment with overall organizational strategy; Provide inputs or resolution in case of deviations. Review / Develop objectives for the team in line with the organizational goals; Periodically review the team’s progress and share an update with management, and guide employees to excel. Review the operations of the finance function and drive productivity to optimize cost. To continuously work towards all levers for Margin improvement and cost-saving measures. Organization development and process improvement To work jointly with the management to analyze existing and anticipated gaps in business / functional processes. Devise strategic interventions for improving organizational process efficiencies, HSE standards and enhancing overall productivity, profitability and cost competitiveness. Formulate cross-functional teams for driving implementation and institutionalization of such initiative. Compliance and regulations · Oversee implementation of business controls and checks for adherence to statutory and regulatory compliance requirements. · Liaise with government authorities, inspection teams and auditors in case of incidents of non-compliances or legal escalations; jointly with senior management outline action plan to tackle issues of non-compliances. Candidate Profile Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Management degree 12+ years of experience in Steel industry Should have 5+ years’ experience in a senior management role. African experience is advantageous.
