20 yearsJob Description : SENIOR MANAGER LOGISTICS AHMEDABAD 20+ years experience CTC 25 LPA - To handle the end to end requirements of freight/shipping/road for all incoming material and then - onwards delivery to customers. - To be the overall lead on the end-to-end logistics of all the groups material. - Ensuring to constantly negotiate the most cost & time effective freight rates and lead times. Principal Accountabilities & Responsibilities: To constantly negotiate and obtain the best freight rate (both sea-freight and airfreight) for import and export. Negotiating rates and finalizing contracts for hiring trucks and other transport vehicles for road transport in India. To manage team handling all documentations including customs clearances in respect of all import and exports consignments. To negotiate freight rates with shipping lines and agents for which the incumbent should have good contacts and negotiation skills and connections with Freight Forwarders and Shipping Lines. Work on end-to-end logistical solutions, that involve going from factory to customer door-step. To work proactively and continuously to identify cost savings, service enhancements and process improvement for freight services to enhance customer satisfaction. To oversee the process of international import & export shipments including arranging for pick-up, in-land transportation, booking, document preparation (bill of lading, invoicing, certificate of origin, export declaration, wherever applicable), forwarding, follow-up with tracking and tracing until final destination and maintenance of quality data requirements. Informing customers of shipping options, transit times, trans-shipments, or regulations affecting movement of cargo etc. To attend to all freight and Operational related issues To ensure that the Freight Forwarders are selected on merit, mainly on the basis of cost, value and level of capability and that they are benchmarked and monitored on an ongoing basis. To effectively identify and develop new shipping lines, routes & services and maintain close contacts with shipping agents and lines to be able to respond to any potential future changes in routes, transit time, congestion on select routes, or in ports etc. To supervise all Ocean Export/import Operations. Ensure timely completion of dispatches as agreed with the customers. Ensure that documents related to export shipments are done on time with accuracy. Ensure that goods are moved safely and efficiently and to the satisfaction of the customers. Ensure timely feedback on shipment status to customers. Constantly evaluate, monitor and identify cost effective methods to reduce freight charges. Handling of custom clearances, declarations and entries correctly, and manage Insurance & other regulatory compliances. Putting in place risk management plans. Arrange air transport for urgent & high value freight. To maintain customer service effectiveness by effective communication & control through all the levels including vendors, shippers, customers, carriers and overseas agents, transport companies, warehouses, Production Department etc. Skills & Competencies Required: Strong negotiation skills are a must. Shown constant ability to bring large cost savings in freight spend to companies they have worked for. Must have worked with companies that do international shipments. Must have dealt with a large volume of international shipping not just local. Preferences: Must have worked in companies that do global shipping & logistics, involve mixed mode transport (sea, road, air).
